A source tells Kotaku that Gears of War: E-Day cost over $500 million to make. Sales estimates have been weak despite earning the highest Metacritic score since the original trilogy.
If it was never going to recoup its expenses, maybe it could achieve more as an Xbox console exclusive https://t.co/2FLyN66o2Y
@tweeting_keith Yes he thinks the things he likes are objectively better but he forgets that this is not true in the slightest. And he also forgets Europe (and Australia) have been able to watch the NBA for example for thirty years and nothing has changed.
Institutional knowledge died during the temporary Covid bubble where many left to try to start things. The projects are often run by people who joined after franchises had been built and donโt understand the WHY of certain decisions so just change things instead of innovating.
Very sad news about BioWare. One of my favourite studios back in the day. But for the nth time: if you cost too much, carry too many staff and take too long then you are pre-dead. Ubisoft, BioWare, Bungie the list goes on. The teams and work style that built them has been lost.
Teams grew to 3X and 4x the size to make very similar games in twice the time. Over management sapped creativity and agency from teams. Work from home let a percentage of the team hide from work and killed team culture. Bloat settled in to replace innovation.
@itemgatestudios We have almost 500,000 wishlists for Revenge of the Savage Planet sitting there dormant. I think people have been trained to wait for 90% off and we haven't quite sunk that low yet. Brutal right now.
Here's a sneak peak ๐ at some different camera angles we're experimenting with for replays and highlights! This is the very first iteration of it in pre-alpha.
What angles do you wanna see? Drop your ideas below! โฌ๏ธ๐
