I genuinely don’t understand why people don’t sell everything they have, move to Iowa, buy a beautiful old house for next to nothing, and start enjoying a simpler, better, and more affordable life.
I get the idea that consultant-driven, robotic, talking-point politicians are both annoying and often incompetent and ineffective.
But the solution to that problem isn't to elect people *worse.* And the idea that messy and scandalous lives are somehow more "authentic" is absurd.
Hang out in a prison. Lots of authenticity there, not much leadership. We're supposed to be electing leaders, not people who remind you of your troubled cousin or your crazy uncle.
#BREAKING@nithyavraman now leads @spencerpratt in the battle for 2nd place in the L.A. Mayor’s race.
There are still an unknown number of ballots left to count.
The top 2 advance regardless of party.
@MightyHeaton LOVED the episode with Sgt. Mike. I'm a 13 yr vet myself and really appreciated you giving airtime to a guy who can offer insight from our side of things, and even better, to someone who seems to approach to his duty with integrity. Great interview.
I listen to every episode but this one was particularly good. Really appreciate the humility and respect each person brought to the chat, as well as the willingness to grapple with tough questions and explore the answers. @shadihamid#zealotsatthegate

Trump has a meltdown and ends the interview
Welker: Just to be very clear, there's no evidence of what you're saying.
Trump: There’s a lot of evidence. There’s tremendous evidence. There’s nothing but evidence. The election was rigged. And it’s happening again in California. They’re cheating.
Welker: Do you have evidence?
Trump: All I have to do is look.
Welker: That’s not evidence. The local officials acknowledge they are slow
Trump: They’re crooked. Just like you’re crooked. You’re either crooked or stupid.
If Israel heeds Trump’s request…this will be seen by Israeli strategists as very worrisome for future Israeli national security. Failure to respond to Iran sets an awful precedent. And it’s the price Bibi pays for getting into the parent-child relationship with Trump.
Democracies need to wake up to the reality that they are under attack from an authoritarian axis.
While Russia overtly invades Ukraine, China 🇨🇳 covertly undermines all of the West.
I'm not from Maine but my neighbors growing up moved to PA from there, and as such I am taking it upon myself to endorse @billscher's idea to bounce Platner and have the party replace him on the ticket.
My Big Platner Take: He’s kind of a scumbag. Some voters will care. Most will not. Thirty years ago they didn’t care that Bill Clinton was far more of a scumbag. It’s been all downhill from there. (Note that I’m not defending him. And that I don’t live in Maine.)
@DamonLinker Mills is old. I get it. Not the ideal alternative. But she would be a steady hand in the upper chamber for 6 years (or less, depending), as opposed to this loose cannon who's got more red flags than a game of Mine Sweeper.
@DamonLinker He's around my age, give or take a couple years. It's not like he's 28 and made some mistakes as an immature 22 year old. I've had my own severe PTSD issues from my job, and I'm sick of people using that as a defense for the shit he did within the last 5 years.
@sbmitche@DamonLinker This is not me saying we should invade. Hell it would be a DISASTER. but that's where we stand. Iran now has the upper hand from a geostrategic standpoint.
@sbmitche@DamonLinker Restraining Bibi does nothing to change the fact that Iran has demonstrated they can control Strait traffic cheaply and effectively. Even if Bibi were removed tomorrow, it doesn't change their leverage. They know what we all know: shy of ground invasion, status quo remains
