While circumnavigating Svalbard, Andreas and @arzucan_askin filled up five @theoceanbottle with seawater that Barba will take to London. Ocean bottles are made of #recycled material - when you buy one, you fund the collection of 1000 ocean-bound plastic bottles in weight.

THE #BLUEWHALE - believed to be the largest animal to have ever existed on earth. During the circumnavigation of #Svalbard the Barba crew encountered at least ten of these enormous animals.

After venturing up the Norwegian coast to #Longyearbyen, our friends aboard the 🇬🇧🇳🇴research vessel @Barbaboat have begun their circumvention of #Svalbard. They will now spend 3 weeks off the grid en route to the island #JanMayen, continuing to collect
#Arctic scientific data.
The #walrus - easily recognizable for its large external tusks (found on both and females), which can grow up to a meter long. Interestingly, most of the walrus found around #Svalbard are male.
