En el Congreso de #Guatemala, se están discutiendo reformas que afectan a la niñez y adolescencia. Ayer, la asesora legal de Equality Now, @AnaElenaObando, habló sobre la necesidad de adoptar una definición de #ViolenciaSexual basada en el #consentimiento en la ley y la exención de responsabilidad en las relaciones sexuales entre adolescentes mayores de 16 años, siempre y cuando no exista una diferencia de edad de más de 2 años o una relación asimétrica de poder que genere cualquier tipo de coerción, violencia, dependencia, explotación o vulnerabilidad de la víctima.

In the Congress of #Guatemala, reforms affecting children and adolescents are being discussed. Yesterday, Equality Now's legal advisor, @AnaElenaObando, spoke about the need to adopt a #consent-based definition of #SexualViolence in the law and the exemption of responsibility in sexual relationships between adolescents over 16 years old, provided there is no age difference of more than 2 years or an asymmetrical power relationship that generates any coercion, violence, dependency, exploitation, or vulnerability of the victim.

Legal advisor for Equality Now #LAC, @AnaElenaObando, highlighted the urgency of reforming the Guatemalan penal code at the @CIDH meeting with civil society during their visit to #Guatemala. Currently, the crime of #rape is conditioned on the existence of physical or psychological violence, which hinders #AccessToJustice for survivors. It is urgent for the Guatemalan State to adopt a definition of sexual crimes based on consent, especially protecting girls, adolescents, and women with disabilities. #CIDHEnGuatemala #SexualViolence #HumanRights
