THE BRITISH ARMY BURNED THE EVIDENCE AND THEN CALLED THE WHISTLEBLOWER A LIAR
Martin Ingram, pseudonym of former Force Research Unit operative Ian Hurst, says his own unit destroyed evidence of state collusion with loyalist killers. In 1990 the office holding Stevens Inquiry evidence on FRU double agent Brian Nelson burned down.
Nelson was the army's prize source inside the UDA. The inquiry later linked him to dozens of murders including solicitor Pat Finucane, while he stayed on the army payroll the whole time.
Ingram went public with this and other FRU operations in 1999. The Ministry of Defence response was an Official Secrets Act arrest, a court injunction to shut him up, and a burglary at his home that stole his research material. That is not how an institution with nothing to hide behaves.
Years later official inquiries including Saville and Smithwick said they could not rely on parts of his evidence. Worth remembering those inquiries were weighing claims against the same state apparatus Ingram was accusing. Make of that what you will.
The fire happened. The evidence is gone. The man who pointed at it got raided, injuncted, and branded unreliable by the system he exposed.
You decide who sounds more credible. The soldier who blew the whistle, or the army that set fire to its own paperwork.

Today sees the publication of a report following the biggest maternity unit scandal in the UK. Maternity scandals south of the border are way, way more extreme and frequent than anything in Scotland. Remember this the next time the BBC runs a hit piece on Scottish maternity units.
You have to look to Wales for any discussion about Andy Burnham's desire to scrap the Barnett Formula. A story of HUGE Scottish significance is just ignored by Scotland's political media which is instead giving exaggerated politically motivated coverage to an embezzler.
The Labour Friends of Israel lobby group was one of the first to congratulate Andy Burnham after his by-election victory.
Within hours, LFI told Burnham: "We look forward to working with you.”
David Sainsbury was seated at a “top table” during a key LFI fundraising dinner.
In other words Burnham wants to dissolve Holyrood: https://t.co/vfNol5bZ77 The 'King of the North' wants to do an Edward Longshanks & subsume Scotland into greater England.
BBC Scotland has all but ceased informing the Scottish public on initiatives, announcements and policy launches from the Scottish Govt. The station just doesn't report them anymore. Look at the list of recent stories that failed to get a mention.
