When Dubstep gained traction in the UK, it was moving, innovative, fluent. It allowed fans of different genres to connect, dance, garage, reggae, dnb, metal fans. Dubstep changed the face of how parties and festivals are programmed all over the world.

What I (O) meant by my earlier tweet was - yeah, we all (or should) know the musical origins of dubstep, garage, Apple records etc, but there’s less focus on the real global impact that followed, the genres birthed, the subcultural shifts. Mindsets, fashion.

I grew up caning around in transit vans rinsing telepathy tape packs. If you listened to Dnb, you were welded to the sub culture. Fashion, social life, things were more tribal. You couldn’t wear jewellery to raves, esp coronet or anywhere in kings X.

The 2009-2014 UK/USA real dubstep peak period needs a documentary. Every doc I’ve seen so far generally comes from the fan’ last or anhwneral cultural impact POV. There’s so many crazies stories (good and bad) that shaped this world that have never been been addressed.
