@gentryld @thogge Here's the dirty trick, it happened to me multiple times. Companies will advertise a job w/pay range 50-80k DOE, require 5+ years, college degree. I made 80-100k the last few jobs. Get an offer for 50k & won't budge. People decline, they say can't find someone, apply for visa.

@gentryld @thogge My point is people are advocating for this in theory and I'm telling you in actual practice/lived experience, it is detrimental to American workers and makes it harder for new grads as well. I don't want pity for my situation, I want people to stop promoting hurtful policies!

@gentryld @thogge That's the thing, I'm a high skilled worker in the tech sector...bringing in skilled workers only makes it harder for me and others like me. You're operating under a false assumption that we need those workers. I'm telling you we don't. All it does it drive wages down in my work.

@thogge As someone who just spent 13 months unemployed & know many still looking for work, @thogge is right. Many jobs I applied for had 50-100 applicants. It's extremely competitive right now. People who aren't looking for work have no idea what the job market is like right now.

@gentryld @thogge How about you spend 13 months unemployed like I did after being laid off, applying to hundreds of jobs (w/degree & 10+ yrs exp in my field), knowing many other unemployed people doing the same thing and tell me we need to bring in foreign labor. It's udder horseshit!

@mammothfan @carolyn_phippen @UtahCollegeReps Why don't you care about our existing laws @mammothfan? If you are here illegally, the consequence is removal. A fee isn't punishment and it's incentive to jump the line of those trying to do it the legal way. We want those illegally here deported, not rewarded for bad behavior.

@UtahCollegeReps @SenJohnCurtis I know many people who were laid off from their jobs last year (including myself) who struggle to find a job. It took me 13 months to find a new job, with a college degree & 10+ years of exp. Some offered me 30-50% less than what I was making, they just want cheap labor.

@LeahRay44 If you like outdoor activities, then you should check out Utah. Lots of national parks, you got a wide array of landscapes from the red rocks to mountain ski towns. Views are top notch!
