It has come to our notice that EROs are no longer able to monitor the progress of AEROs on the ECINet portal with respect to the conduct of SIR in Bengal. This amounts to a TRIPLE VIOLATION.

FIRST, it violates Section 13B of the Representation of the People Act, which states that electoral rolls “shall be prepared and revised by an electoral registration officer." It also violates Section 13C of the Act, which states that AEROs are to “assist any electoral registration officer in the performance of his functions” and that they are “subject to the control of the electoral registration officer.”

SECOND, it violates the explicit intent of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order dated 9 February, 2026, Section 6(V) of which states in no uncertain terms that “the final decision will be taken by the EROs only.” It also violates Section 2 of the Supreme Court’s order dated 20 February 2026, which states that, under the Logical Discrepancy/Unmapped category, persons to whom notices were issued have submitted documents in support of their claims for inclusion in the voter list. “These claims are required to be adjudicated, in a way, through a quasi-judicial process by the EROs.”

THIRD, it violates the Election Commission’s own Order No. 23/2025-ERS (Vol. II) dated 24th June 2025, Point No. 2 of which clearly states that “the ERO of each Assembly Constituency shall be responsible for ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out and no ineligible person is included.”

This TRIPLE VIOLATION strikes at the very heart of constitutional governance by dismantling institutional checks and balances, creating fertile ground for ARBITRARY and UNLAWFUL DELETION of voters at the discretion of AEROs.

What is even more alarming is that when this serious anomaly was escalated to the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, through the District Election Officers, it was met with a cavalier and dismissive response wholly unbecoming of a constitutional office. This is precisely the entrenched BABU CULTURE that has come to characterise the Election Commission’s functioning, and stood implicitly rebuked by the Supreme Court only yesterday.

Nobody, I repeat NOBODY, has the authority to play God with the democratic rights of Bengal’s voters. The BANGLA-BIRODHI ZAMINDARS who believe they can pull the strings and orchestrate a voter deletion racket must understand that they will be held accountable, both in the court of law and in the court of the people.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের এই পুণ্যদিনে সম্মান জানাই বিশ্বের সকল ভাষা ও ভাষাভাষী মানুষকে। বিশ্বের সকল দেশের সকল ভাষা-শহিদদের ও ভাষা-সংগ্রামীদের জানাই আমার প্রণাম ও অন্তরের শ্রদ্ধা।

রবীন্দ্রনাথ - নজরুল - সুকান্ত - জীবনানন্দের বাংলা শুধু নয়, আমরা সব ভাষাকেই সম্মান করি। এটা আমার গর্ব যে, আমাদের সময়ে হিন্দি, সাঁওতালি, ��ুরুখ, কুড়মালি, নেপালি, উর্দু, রাজবংশী, কামতাপুরী, পাঞ্জাবি, তেলুগু ভাষাকে আমরা সরকারি ভাষা হিসাবে স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছি। সাদরি ভাষার মানোন্নয়নেও আমরা সচেষ্ট হয়েছি। হিন্দি আকাদেমি, রাজবংশী ভাষা আকাদেমি, কামতাপুরী ভাষা আকাদেমি, সাঁওতালি আকাদেমি – সব করা হয়েছে। এটাও সুনিশ্চিত করেছি যে, রাজ্যের প্রত্যেক ভাষা-ভাষী মানুষ তাদের মাতৃভাষায় পড়াশোনা করার সুযোগ পায়।

একুশের এই পুণ্য দিনে আরও একবার অঙ্গীকার করছি — যে-কোনো ভাষার ওপর যদি আক্রমণ আসে – আমরা সবাই মিলে তার বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়াবো। সকল ভাষা সমান ভাবে সম্মাননীয়।

I am shaken, enraged, and sickened beyond words by the barbaric murder of Sukhen Mahato, a 24-year-old migrant worker from Bandwan in Purulia, the sole earning member of his family, in Pune, Maharashtra.

This is nothing short of a hate crime. A young man was hunted, tortured, and murdered for his language, his identity, his roots. This is the direct consequence of a climate where xenophobia is weaponised and innocents are turned into targets.

I demand immediate arrests and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators. And to Sukhen’s family, I say that Bengal stands with you in this hour of unimaginable grief. No effort will be spared to secure justice.

সুভাষদা ছিলেন আমার অভিভাবকতুল্য। আমার লড়াইয়ের দিনে তাঁর স্নেহ, সমর্থন ও আশীর্বাদ আমি পেয়েছি - এ আমার পরম সৌভাগ্য।

তাঁর 'পদাতিক' কাব্য সংকলনের নামে আমি দক্ষিণবঙ্গ ও উত্তরবঙ্গের মধ্যে একটি নতুন ট্রেন চালু করে নাম রেখেছিলাম 'পদাতিক এক্সপ্রেস'। আজও এই ট্রেন সগৌরবে চলছে।

আমরা কোচবিহারে পঞ্চানন বর্মা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছি এবং তাঁর জন্মস্থান খলিসামারির পুণ্যভূমিতে এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের দ্বিতীয় ক্যাম্পাস চালু করা হয়েছে। তাঁর বাসভবন সংস্কার করে আমরা ‘পঞ্চানন বর্মা সংগ্রহশালা ও গবেষণাকেন্দ্র’ নামে একটি মিউজিয়াম গড়ে তুলেছি এবং সেখানে তাঁর একটি পূর্ণাবয়ব মূর্তি স্থাপন করা হয়েছে। তাঁর জন্মতিথিকে আমরা রাজ্যে সরকারি ছুটি হিসেবে ঘোষণা করেছি।

এ প্রসঙ্গে বলি, রাজবংশী ভাইবোনদের সামগ্রিক উন্নতির লক্ষে আমাদের সরকার নিরলস কাজ করে যাচ্ছে।

কোচবিহারের ঐতিহ্যশালী ''নারায়ণী সেনা'র স্মরণে রাজ্য পুলিশে বিশেষ ‘নারায়ণী’ ব্যাটেলিয়ন গঠন করা হয়েছে।

রাজবংশী ভাষাকে সরকারি ভাষার স্বীকৃতি দেওয়া হয়েছে। এর পাশাপাশি কামতাপুরী, সাঁওতালী, কুরুখ, কুড়মালী, নেপালী, হিন্দি, উর্দু, পাঞ্জাবী ও তেলুগু ভাষাকেও আমরা সরকারি মর্যাদা দিয়েছি। সাদরি ভাষার মানোন্নয়নেও আমাদের বিশেষ উদ্যোগ রয়েছে। রাজবংশী সমাজের কৃষ্টি রক্ষায় আমরা রাজবংশী ডেভেলপমেন্ট বোর্ড, রাজবংশী কালচারাল একাডেমি, রাজবংশী ভাষা একাডেমি এবং কামতাপুরী ভাষা একাডেমি গঠন করেছি। প্রায় ২০০টি রাজবংশী স্কুলকে সরকারি অনুমোদন দেওয়া হয়েছে।

কোচ-রাজবংশী বীরত্বের প্রতীক বীর চিলারায়ের স্মরণে কোচবিহারের বাবুরহাটে তাঁর একটি ১৫ ফুট উঁচু ব্রো��্জ মূর্তি স্থাপন করা হয়েছে। তাঁর জন্মদিনে উত্তরবঙ্গে সরকারি ছুটি ঘোষণা করেছে আমাদের সরকার।

কোচ-কামতাপুরী-রাজবংশী ঐতিহ্যের গুরুত্ব বিচার করে সমগ্র কোচবিহার শহরকে ‘হেরিটেজ সিটি’ হিসেবে মর্যাদা দেওয়া হয়েছে।

‘আমি বাংলায় গান গাই’— এর মতো তাঁর অনেক গান বাংলার মানুষের স্মৃতিতে চিরকাল অমলিন থাকবে। বাংলা গানে অসাধারণ অবদানের জন্য আমাদের সরকার তাঁকে ‘বঙ্গবিভূষণ’ সম্মানে ভূষিত করেছে। এজন্য আমি গর্বিত।

প্রতুলদার সঙ্গে আমার দীর্ঘদিনের ব্যক্তিগত হৃদ্যতাও ছিল। মানুষের জন্য লড়াইয়ে আমি সবসময় তাঁকে পাশে পেয়েছি।

কিন্তু তিনি শুধুমাত্র একজন প্রবাদপ্রতিম শিল্পী ছিলেন না, ব্যক্তিগতভাবে, তিনি ছিলেন আমার বড় দিদির মতো - এক পরম নির্ভরযোগ্য আশ্রয় এবং ভালোবাসার জায়গা। তাঁর সঙ্গে কাটানো দীর্ঘ সময়, অজস্র আলাপচারিতা আজও আমার মনের মণিকোঠায় উজ্জ্বল।

বাংলা গানের আকাশে তিনি ধ্রুবতারা হয়ে থাকবেন ঠিকই, কিন্তু আমার কাছে তিনি চিরকাল রয়ে যাবেন আমার সেই প্রিয় মানুষটি হিসেবে, যাঁর অভাব কোনওদিন পূরণ হওয়ার নয়।

ইতিহাস, ঐতিহ্য ও বিভিন্ন ধর্মের সহাবস্থানে সমৃদ্ধ আমাদের বাংলা। ধর্মীয় সম্প্রীতির সেই ঐতিহ্যকে বজায় রাখতে রাজ্যের সকল ধর্মের বিভিন্ন ধর্মস্থানগুলির সংস্কার ও সার্বিক উন্নয়ন গত ১৫ বছর ধরে করে চলেছে আমাদের সরকার।

ভগবান শিব��র প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে আমরা রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ শিবমন্দির গুলির সংস্কার করেছি।জলপাইগুড়ির বিখ্যাত জল্পেশ মন্দিরের সার্বিক সংস্কারের পাশাপাশি ভক্তদের সুবিধার্থে স্কাইওয়াক তৈরি করেছি।

হুগলী জেলার তারকেশ্বর মন্দির ও সংলগ্ন এলাকার উন্নয়নের দিকে বিশেষ জোর দেবার লক্ষ্যে আমরা তারকেশ্বর ডেভেলপমেন্ট অথরিটি গঠন করেছি। মন্দির চত্বরের সার্বিক সংস্কার, সৌন্দর্যায়ন, আলোর ব্যবস্থা, দুধপুকুরের পাশে রাস্তা তৈরী ইত্যাদি বেশ কিছু কাজও আমরা করেছি।

পাশাপাশি, রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন জেলায় বেশ কিছু বিখ্যাত শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কারের কাজও আমরা করেছি, যেমন বর্ধমানের ১০৮ শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কার, কোচবিহারের হিরণ্যগর্ভ শিব মন্দির সংস্কার, উত্তর দিনাজপুরে প্রমথেশ্বর জিও শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কার, বীরভূমের বক্রেশ্বরে বিভিন্ন পর্যটন পরিকাঠামোর উন্নয়ন, পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের দাঁতনের শ্যামলেশ্বর শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কার, পূর্ব বর্ধমানের কালনার ১০৮ শিব মন্দিরের আলোকসজ্জা, হুগলির চন্ডীতলার বক্সায় শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কার, হুগলির দারহাট্টার রাজেশ্বর শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কার, জাঙ্গিপাড়ার হরিরামপুরে শিব মন্দিরের সংস্কার ইত্যাদি।

পাশাপাশি শিবের রুদ্ররূপ- মহাকাল কে আমাদের অন্তরের শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে আমরা শিলিগুড়িতে 'মহাকাল মহাতীর্থ' তৈরি করছি। এই মহাতী��্থে বিশ্বের সর্বোচ্চ শিব মূর্তি' স্থাপিত হবে।

আজ এই শুভদিনে আমাদের সকলের জীবনে শান্তি ও ধর্মীয় সম্প্রীতি বজায় থাকুক এই কামনা করি।
