@We_OwnIt There is no real market in utilities. I may be switch electric gas or companies but they only dealers who have no choice which companies they buy from so it is a monopoly.
Telecoms are virtually a monopoly as most phone services use BT's Openreach.
The economic context we are in is that education staff can get better paid work, with better terms and conditions, in other sectors, and so are leaving in droves!
You'd think a Conservative PM would understand how the free market works!
BREAKING: Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has hinted he will ignore recommendations for public sector pay rises, saying workers "need to recognise the economic context we are in"

Across the country children are losing out as schools are abandon subjects - computer studies dropped at school after school. Dance and other arts subjects too.
The level of teacher vacancies is the highest ever.
Let’s demand that Government act. #DoYourJobGill#SaveOurSchools
Remember how the Govt told us Review Bodies were “independent” and they accepted their recommendations in full?
Here you can see Sunak, Barclay & Shapps saying so & Gillian Keegan nodding on the front bench.
Now they plan to ignore 6.5%
Not on!
#SaveOurSchools#DoYourJobGill
Let’s be clear.
Gillian Keegan’s lack of action has consequences. Children are missing out.
For example: Secondary class sizes are the highest on record.
Gillian Keegan should act: #DoYourJobGill
Wow! 40,000 teacher left teaching last year! That’s a huge 9% of all teachers. And 90% of those were pre-retirement. This is astonishing, a crisis.
What is Gillian Keegan doing about it?
#DoYourJobGill
@educationgovuk Teacher rates (6% increase) have not increased as much as pupil numbers (11% increase). You need at least 5100 more teachers in total to keep up!
Sorry, you haven't shown your workings.
As we've always said - time for SATs to go. They serve no purpose for Education and damage the well-being of children. Our first duty as educators is to keep children safe and well.
@SimonKn75881518@NEUnion It is unfunded. This means it comes out of already squeezed budgets and will increase already overburdened workload and lead to redundancies.
If it was fully funded then there would be something to discuss.
Can I please get everyone here tomorrow? Would you show up?
John Rankin School, Newbury
Who would support? I'm doing this!
Help! I don't know what this will look like!
Please? For #RuthPerry#StrongerTogether#ShineOn
Meanwhile not a mile from Parliament the real everyday problems of politics on display with a huge teacher strike march. And there was little in the Chancellor’s budget which addressed public sector pay…
@lindafabri@matilda__martin@NEUnion@tes Teachers are leaving in droves. They will continue to do so when faced with attitudes like this. Schools are underfunded.
The Government should be thoroughly ashamed of the severe lack of specialist teachers, recruitment gaps, and basic resources unavailable in schools.
Quick note for @MattHancock and @GavinWilliamson. 300,000 teachers went on strike this week because they work some of the longest hours of any OECD country for some of the worst pay.
Education is in crisis in this country and if you won’t we will take a stand to #SaveOurSchools
139 teachers sadly lost their lives during the pandemic.
Teaching unions fought to keep teachers and pupils safe.
And now we see what this government thought of those efforts.
