Regional Distance Qualifiers! Lydia Bennett won the Sectionals 1600 in a PR of 5:13 and also finished 2nd in the 3200. Abby DeTray finished 3rd in the 800 in 2:31 to advance and finished 4th in the 1600 with PRs in both races.

Great distance races today at East Noble. Lydia Bennett won the John Reed Mile and the Distance Medley Team of Lydia Bennett, Olivia Woodcox, Sam Slavin, and Abby DeTray also took the win. Carter Vangessel was only 1.05 seconds from also winning the Mile but a big PR of 4:31.01.

Another impressive meet from Lydia Bennett at the big Turtletown Invitational Meet. First place in the 1600 and came back with a second in the 3200.

Our 4x800 team of Nate Fillenworth, Jaren McIntire, Matthias Hefty, Carter Vangessel not only won last night at the Heritage Relays but set the new meet record! Ran a 8:22 after Carter and Matthias went 1-3 in the 1600.

All of my Cross Country Seniors will be attending great universities in the fall. Carter VanGessel (Trine), Vincent Worden (Trine), Gabe Tobierre (Elon), and Travers Mason (Notre Dame). Will miss all their contributions to the team and excited for their future.

Distance Medley team of Lydia Bennett, Sam Slavin, Abby DeTray, and Olivia Woodcox won their race tonight at the Northside Legend Relays. Lydia Bennett also won the 1600 and was named Outstanding Distance Runner for the meet.

Fantastic results at Indoor State! Boys 4x800 PRed with an 8:20 for 12th. Lydia Bennett PRed with a 11:26 in the 3200 for 13th. Both outperformed their seeding.

DeKalb Track is sending five runners to the Indoor Track State Meet in Bloomington at Indiana University Saturday evening. Running the 4x800 will be Carter Vangessel, Nate Fillenworth, Matthias Hefty, and Jaren McIntire. Qualifying individually in the 3200 is Lydia Bennett.

Past and future Barons raced great over the weekend.

Former Baron runner Jack Beakas ran a 24:20 5 Mile (4:54 pace) at the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago.

DMS 8th grader Sarah Maple placed 3rd in the 3000 (10:28) and 6th in the 1500 (4:56) at the USATF JO Indoor Track Nationals.
