@tyleryaremchuk@OilersNation Wait to see if Anaheim matches the Leo Carlsson O/S. If not, a forward like Tippett or potential Michkov could be on the outs.
I think either player would be a better option than Debrusk.
@frank_seravalli After a player signs an offer sheet.
Are teams allowed to have that type of conversation with the player or agent? To see where their head space is.
@LeafsIV@walsha I’ll have to look into that. My assumption is that this wouldn’t be a CBA item and more so a contract negotiation item.
If that’s the case, I’m wrong and take back everything I said previously! And agree 100% with you.
@LeafsIV@walsha In the contract I would have a clause in the NMC/NTC section that if the player asks for a trade their NMC/NTC now gets altered.
ie. would go from a Full NMC to a 16 team no trade list.
This type of clause helps protect the team more against trade requests.
@LeafsIV@walsha Oh I understand that and sucks for Sens fans. But it was the GM of the Ottawa Senators fault for not having proper protections in the contract and not the league.
@LeafsIV@walsha But that can be negotiated by the GMs in the player contracts. And if the GMs sign it without, then that’s on them. The league shouldn’t have to mandate that. It just should be intelligent common practice by teams and GMs.
@LeafsIV@walsha I don’t believe the league would be allowed to impose any rule like this (I could be wrong). It would have to be grandfathered in and any existing contracts could act in this way.
@LeafsIV@walsha It’s up to the teams/management to negotiate terms in the contract that if player asks for a trade, the previously negotiated trade conditions be altered.
It’s a product of professional agents being better and more knowledgeable about the contract negotiation process.
Have you heard any talk from GMs, that they may look to include language in the player contracts that if a player “requests a trade” any trade protection negotiated prior gets adjusted. i.e. a full NTC gets adjusted to a 10 team list? @FriedgeHNIC@frank_seravalli@PierreVLeBrun
@JasonGregor Ask Bowman what sort of changes has the organization made so that young, non-star players feel protected and can speak up against bullying, if it does indeed occur.
