Shough graduated from Oregon in only three years with bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminal justice. He later earned a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas Tech before finishing his career at Louisville.

His unusual college journey lasted seven seasons across three different programs, but Shough made the most of his time away from the field.

New Orleans eventually selected him with the 40th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
