@TheHockeyWriter Sorry but I think there are 30 teams that would make a better offer if he came back on the market. He is one of the best Dmen in the league.
@GrindLinePod After Helenes book had not a single quote or interview of substance and was litterally a written recap of what was already in the public domain, I don’t trust her reporting. Especially over insiders who are see consistently correct.
@LarsThorsell Yep. This is what’s going to happen to all of that capspace all the teams have. Teams will go back to paying 4-5 players 75% of their cap and trying to figure out why they can’t win the cup.
Also this should make Larkin worth 4 first round pieces based on his AAV alone.
@McFaul I was an FSO in Baku in 2017 for our Fourth of July party. It was the second hardest ticket in town for National day celebrations as the Japanese invite was always impossible to get below the DCM level. You had to hope he or the Ambo couldn’t go and you got the nod. lol.
@jhurrell_24@m_bultman They used a first and a second to get Cossa and then barely saw him. He was an all star. He earned a shot. The return was a Hail Mary they were lucky to get.
@HeleneStJames Team needs to tank for a year or two and get more top 5 pick talent. Trade Larkin DeBrincat, Faulk, Gibson Chairot, forget the free agent market.
@adammark93@m_bultman If a team makes a qualifying offer, the player becomes a RFA even if he doesn’t sign it allowing the team to keep the players rights. If they don’t make a qualifying offer, the player becomes a UFA.
There are 20-25 GMs right now who think they can make the playoffs or contend for a cup. Some whose job depends on it. When 10 of those find out around Thanksgiving, theyll call and the right players will be on the table. Larkin can give you a cup window. That’s a big return.
@LarsThorsell Yeah. That’s not ideal. Only one other time (2015) since 1992 that has happened. I consider Detroit to have three scouting staffs. One for the first round, one for Sweden and one for everything else. The Swedish staff keeps this team afloat.
@LGRWProspects@ScoutWithAnni I have heard the term best player available but does anyone in this draft class at least skate backwards? Maybe pick up a D shift in a pinch. Blueliner? Backender? RearGuard?
@m_bultman They should put 32 team names in a hat and if the round takes more than an hour, the team drawn loses their pick in that round. The prospect lost will then be assigned to the Habs where the fan base will immediately claim he’s next McDavid.
Love the fact that Detroit was able to add another Plante. Now that Detroit has 2/3, I wonder if Zam plays 4 years, becomes an UFA and sign with his brothers in Detroit. I could see Det & Pitt getting a deal done sending Zam to Detroit. I could see all three together in GR.
@LGRWProspects For me goalies later in the draft provide the most value as it is the one position where you can find NHL players with lower picks. I also think having a stable pool of prospects keeps you from making a Cossa mistake and picking a Goalie in the first round.
