A 14 year old boy got on a bus in Portsmouth on August 6, not knowing that this would change his life forever.

While on the bus the boy was engaged in a conversation with Sadiq Farhad Azad, a 33 year old Iraqi national with no address, who should never have been in the UK.

The two did not know each other.

When the boy got off the bus, the boy said Azad followed him, dragged him into an alley and raped him.

For 5 days the boy agonised about reporting it. Eventually he plucked up the courage and went to the police. CCTV from the bus helped track down Azad.

But this is not the end of it…

While the police were investigating Azad, a young woman in her 20s came forward with another report about him. He had stalked her for about a year, damaged a car belonging to her family and terrified her.

Azad is now being charged with both crimes and will appear in court in October.

The British government has responsibility for both attacks. They should be tried in court.
