@Orestaki Amazed to see people still live in Jozi when so many pitch up here in CT every day. Good to see some progress there, rather shelter in place than cause a housing build boom down here.
@Eskom_SA Yes, it is important to understand that the base load stations have failed due to build and supply chain corruption and that the peaking power stations will catastrophically fail due to overuse and maintenance. Good to know!
@PicturesFoIder An airport can only provide for limited scenarios based upon risk, otherwise airports would just be for private aircraft given the cost. Even if you provide for some risks, it does’t change the risk and some do manifest, such as this case, a very unpredictable and rare scenario.
@Eskom_SA Every time you encounter load shedding you know for sure you are being robbed through corruption, graft and theft. We are just being mugged on an organized schedule.
@GovernmentZA@HomeAffairsSA Fix the current DHA shameful mess first! Rather recruit competent leadership and fire the DHA management that treat citizens like disposable trash, requiring them to queue from 3am in the morning as a standard process. #firetheDHA
@HomeAffairsSA What can you expect from the DHA circus that has citizens queuing up from 3am as a standard process? This Afghan issue is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands of South African each day that the DHA treats like disposable trash. #firethem
@HomeAffairsSA No appointments are available in the Western for IDs and passports. The standard procedure is to queue from 3am in the hope of making the cut-off for the next day. What kind of leadership intentionally demeans citizens, places their health and safety in danger ? Fire them all!
@CyrilRamaphosa Whilst the political elite fight over looting the spoils of the long dead apartheid regime, true wealth leaves our borders every day in the minds and abilities that take two or more generations to replace. There will never be a brighter future without deep human capital.
@Richard_Spoor Sad to see people choosing to invest their efforts and taxes into another economy. Probably worse to see the comic books, clapping at the loss of so much irreplaceable specific human capital. Human capital is the elusive wealth that so many can never find.
@News24 @IamAlexSweet This is nothing unusual, the dealership is merely preserving their position with a view to a settlement or potential litigation. The real issue here are the years and costs of litigation no citizen could ever afford. Effectively there is no law for ordinary people.
@BantuHolomisa In these times why is energy a SOE concern? The market economy is already stepping up as homes and some businesses install their own capacity. Eskom will end up being the power supplier at last resort, mainly for those that cannot afford anything more stable or anything at all.
@helenzille If we had a functioning DoJ and Police ministry, ideally there should be a life sentence without the possibility of parole for sabotage and corruption of key infrastructure. Corrupt networks will self-liquidate as the price of corruption starts matching punishment #Liarshedding
@News24@YouMagazine Unfortunately #Loadshedding will only end for those that install solar or generators. The ANC has created the apartheid state all over again by expecting inspirational falsehoods and fairytales for mass audiences to actually effect real world infrastructural change #Liarshedding
@News24@CyrilRamaphosa Maybe throwing enormous resources into the abyss again will not result in different outcomes? Time to break Eskom up and reallocate energy supply to regional authorities? Let local communities decide their own futures.
@nytimes Just from these replies, I'm glad not to be in the US, with so many callous people that are fixated on a a low-brow one dimensional political faction fight. There is a bigger world outside of your Tupperware existence. Grow up and become more humane.
@CityofCT On some days at stage 6 there are consecutive loadshedding slots totaling 4.5 hours at one go. Expect thousands to develop illness from the constant thawing and refreezing of food in this heat.
@drDendere Different motives by Britain, France Germany, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Turkey over 3000 years, but the common ‘how’ is technology. Egypt fell to Rome and Greeks through a stagnation in innovation. A lesson to us all.
@David__Osland 2 million children do not have food security precisely because we failed to support decent schools. We need 2 million in decent schools rather than supporting more systematic poverty.
