Here’s where Arsenal fans get confused:

Lots of people now saying Arsenal HAVE to win the title, HUGE bottlejob if we don’t.

Ok, fine, we’re favourites.

So we must have some world class players in our squad, some of the best in their position, right?

But if we say that, we’re delusional and overhyping our players.

Ok so we don’t have any of the best players, but we still HAVE to win the league, Arteta must be a world class manager then, right?

But no, he’s “never won anything” and “isn’t even top 10”, Arsenal fans overhype him.

So we don’t have the best players or the best manager, but not winning the league would be a HUGE bottlejob, how does that work?

“You have the best squad depth”.

Oh ok, so depth of squad is the most important factor in winning a title?

But last season, when we had no depth and insane injuries, that was just an excuse and not allowed to be considered a factor?

For football to be adjudicated fairly, there must be consistent implementation of the rules and a standardized approach to the norms of the game.

It is clear that PGMOL refs/VARs have intentionally taken extreme interpretations of both concepts to shape games to their preference. It’s no longer a suspicion that Arsenal are officiated differently; it is now an objective fact that has undermined our title challenge and soiled what could have been a historic campaign between two great clubs.

They rigidly applied the letter of the law when sending off Declan Rice ("I have no choice") to harm Arsenal. They did it to Arsenal twice, then quietly agreed they wouldn't do it after blowback.

Conversely, they took a lenient view of Kovacic's challenge against City to preserve the integrity of a "big game."

This arbitrary extremism corrupts the game. It allows referees to take center stage, influencing outcomes with zero consequence or even scrutiny in the media. How many times does this decision making land on tone being the issue and 'mistakes happen.'

The Premier League needs to demonstrate leadership. It is beginning to look like they view this as a feature of the game rather than a disgusting bug that must be eradicated before it infects fans' love for football.

Michael Oliver should not be a Premier League referee after today, but he will be, and he'll be put back on Arsenal games despite his horrible record of terrible red cards (8 reds), and his freelance actions raising deeply disturbing questions over his judgement and integrity when it comes to how he refs other teams (City 0 red cards).

I honestly don’t know how Michael Oliver can referee another Arsenal game again after that today. What trust there was (which was very little) has just totally gone now surely. The more you watch it, the worse it gets. How can he possibly justify making that decision? It’s always him…..

I am not a referee conspiracist.

They are humans, and I’ve learned to never assume malice where incompetence will do.

Every fan will tell you their team gets it the worst, and if you think refs are subject to bias, so are you as a fan.

But these are 3 PRECEDENT SETTING refereeing decisions by the same referee, against the same team, managed by the same guy, in the space of a few years.

Myles - you’ll never see that again in the sport. Ever. Nowhere near last man, absolute vintage tactical foul. VAR immediately clears.

Martinelli - you’ll never see someone given two yellows in the same phase of play ever again in the sport. Tell me another time it happened.

Trossard - you’ll never see someone sent off that quick again for a ball being “kicked away”. He’s blowing AS HE KICKS. I’ve never seen it happen before or since.

Let alone the other stuff he’s done while refereeing us (Kovacic, ignoring kicking balls away etc).

These aren’t “standard” reds.

David Coote openly admits he disliked Jurgen Klopp.

So do Arsenal not have a case to at least ask a question about Michael Oliver at this point? Or raise an enquiry?
