It just occurred to me that the meeting in Brno next week will be just about a full 10 years after my first WG21 meeting... which was the Oulu meeting in June 2016.
Been quite a decade.
Having just finished @KateBooks's "Radium Girls" (I'd asked my wife to pick me up an interesting non-fiction book from the library, she did not disappoint!), we happened to be driving thru Ottawa, IL so we stopped by the memorial.
Highly recommended, was a great read!
The UVA 4x100 medley relay, flat starts only:
BK: Isabelle Stadden (57.55)
BR: Kate Douglass (1:05.27)
FL: Gretchen Walsh (54.33)
FR: Anna Moesch (51.94)
That sums to 3:49.09. For context, the world record (Regan Smith, Douglass, GWalsh, Torri Huske) is 3:49.34.
Enhanced Games is apparently not much more than a charity program for formerly competitive athletes.
Cody Miller gets $500k for swimming times that would tie for 13th in the world (this season so far, not ever) in the 100m breast and 3rd in the 50.
Much impressive. Such wow.
This week was my second time at CppNow, and it was wonderful. Beautiful environment, great people. This year I got to give the opening keynote and I thought it went pretty well too!
Also got to experience all of the weather. These pictures were taken on the same day.
@code_report One of your C++ one partitions into 1111000 and then rotates the whole thing into 1110001.
Don't you only need to swap the last 1 and the last 0?
Current view sitting in a coffee shop reviewing a C++ paper in advance of the meeting beginning tomorrow.
Doesn't matter how many times I visit, I will always find this building indescribably majestic.
I'm pretty excited to be giving one of the keynotes at this year's C++Now!
We're about to finalize C++26 next week, which will include reflection. But that's already old news. I wanted to talk about what could (should?) come next!
We are pleased to announce 50 outstanding presentations from C++ experts that will be taking place at C++Now 2026 from 4th - 8th May

There are few things that feel worse than attempting to swim laps immediately after watching really fast people swim.
They make it look so easy... It really isn't!
@supahvee1234 I wish we could get to the point as a community where we're like "Vitriolic, therefore not worth sharing."
Or "I had some issues with simd, so I wrote a list of examples where simd works better or worse, hope this helps!"
Naw. Instead, we get... whatever this is.
It's been a long time since I've written a blog post. 7 months!
Recently, I was inspired by @vzverovich to try something that I thought was impossible before. And now (with C++26 Reflection), it is.
std::meta::substitute is a very powerful function.

Numbers. What do they even mean?!
16yr old kid goes 4:05 in the 500y free!? Just two years ago (in the before Lรฉon times), this would've been the fastest swim ever.
Luka Mijatovic. Name to keep in mind for LA 2028.
