This afternoon I was sent an article in which a federal Conservative MP pointed out that the federal Liberals had spent $1.3 M on three retreats focused on making life more affordable for Canadians.

Apparently the Conservatives enjoyed pointing out how ironic it was for the Liberals to spend so much, when many Canadians are struggling to afford life expenses.

However, the Conservatives have led travel spending at over $6 million, slightly ahead of the Liberals' $5.6 million. And the NDP spent more than $1.5 million, but had the highest per-member travel costs of any party at nearly $60,000, which is $16,000 above the national average.

Conservative MPs were also above the national average at $49,572.85 of travel spending per lawmaker.

Perhaps the Conservatives should have reflected on their own spending before pointing fingers at the Liberals.
