@NativeBrit2025@Neilsocialist selling off 2 million council houses ? not using existing powers to bring 40000 empty houses back into use ? Allowing companies to land bank ? Perhaps that might cause it ? Not having enough skilled workers to build them ? The money lost to brexit. Would you like another few
With marching season approaching
I don’t here any politicians sticking up for the Catholics in Scotland.
Every year the hate feast is allowed on the streets.
Can you imagine if the hate marches were against the Jewish community.
@LucyHunterB yip and the ones experiencing inequalities are used by the policy communities or not heard at all. The cultural disparity in policy/programme development that exists gets wider every time and the peripheral policy actors who highlight inadequacies are seen as hyperbole,
Reach Advocacy is Scotland’s only accredited advocacy training organisation using a human rights based approach. Learn more about who we are and what we do from our staff!
On the upcoming anniversary of the Christie Commission, and in the run-up to our parliamentary visit, we are delighted to revisit our history by sharing this testimonial from Professor James Mitchell, Professor of Public Policy @ProfJMitchell
We are excited to be presenting our case for human rights based advocacy to @ScotParl in line with both the new public health framework and the principles of national renewal informed by the Christie Commission.
Hope to see many faces there!
@ProfJMitchell They do not mention the ongoing public health emergency of alcohol and drug deaths. Existing legislation could be used to regulate and inspect services, and or use monies from MUP that can help tackle the issue of increasing alcohol harms. 1/6 of avoidable deaths each year.
On the day before we visit @ScotParl we are sharing the words of @alan_miller01 from @lawstrath about his collaboration with Reach Advocacy.
We have been privileged to work with Alan over the years and look forward to continuing our strong relationship in the future!
Jeremy Corbyn, expelled from Keir Starmer’s Labour Party ❌
Peter Mandelson, friend of Jeffery Epstein, who appears 10 times in Ghislaine Maxwell's black book & phoned Epstein in jail whilst he was serving a sentence for child abuse, made UK Ambassador to US ✅ @andrewfeinstein
@ProfJMitchell The real term cut to alcohol and drug policy amounts to 14 per cent cut in two years. This is despite 3.4 billion increase in settlement from UK govt. But the people affected don't vote so they don't matter.
A national mission to reduce drug deaths. A public health emergency whilst SG budget provides another real terms cut for 2025/26. 13 million cut in past 2 years. 500k increase in 2025/26 out of 3.4 billion additional funding. Yip its a priority of SG but not that much of one
@gerrymccartney1@JimSlaven@AllHailToThePod Did you consider the discrimination that many people who experienced drug harms/drug deaths when accessing services ? we found that to be widespread last year in a paper we published.
@ReidFoundation So refreshing that Mick Lynch reinforced the emphasis on community organising outwith the workplace. It cant be left to peripheral policy actors to force state actors to tackle inequalities that the marginalised communities face.
Thanks to everyone who attended the Jimmy Reid Memorial Lecture this evening. Mick Lynch drew on the struggles Jimmy and others led in their day to point to the importance of an organised working class to address the challenges of today.
“His dedication & commitment to his beliefs, to working people, to socialism and to national freedom, is an inspiration”
Mick Lynch on James Connolly
"It was immediately after the end of the Second World War when we were as Sir Winston Churchill then said 'a bankrupt nation'.
