Dedicated to the players, officials and those unsung heroes who contributed so much to the success of @BarryTownUnited since 1912. Independently run the BTSC.
Today we're proud to induct Idris Niblett into the @BarryTownUnited Hall of Fame. Born in Barry in 1932, Idris signed for us in 1951 and scored 3 goals in our 1955 Welsh Cup Final and Replayed Welsh Cup Final win over Chester City. Delighted to have Idris at @JennerPark3G today.
Four @CymruLeagues titles, three of them as player-manager, 1 Welsh Cup, 1 FAW Premier Cup and 3 League Cups, @fakegarybarnet was @BarryTownUnited's record-breaking manager in the 1990s. A season undefeated, record points, record goals and THAT summer of '96, thanks Barney #BTHOF
Associated with @BarryTownUnited for almost 40 years, Neil O'Halloran steered the direction of the football club from the 1980s, in and out of exile, Welsh Cup glory, European football, renovation of Jenner Park and into full-time status by 1995. #BTHOF
Gwilym 'Cannonball' Cain scored 150 goals for @BarryTownUnited's Southern League side in an era where he competed for goals with the likes of Derek Tapscott, Stan Richards and Charlie Dyke. He would win a Welsh Cup, 3 Senior Cups and have a rare FA Cup 1st Round appearance #BTHOF
Bill Bowen earned an Amateur International cap for @FAWales when playing for Troedyrhiw and was signed by @SwansOfficial in March 1914. Bill came to @BarryTownUnited for 1914-15 and was a record-breaking goalkeeper/secretary when we won the 1920-21 Southern League title. #BTHOF
Charlie Dyke moved from Troedyrhiw to @ChelseaFC in 1947 and joined @BarryTownUnited in 1951. He scored our winning goal in the 1955 Welsh Cup Final. Charlie would have a 45 year career at Jenner Park, with a stint at @WorcesterCityFc under our ex-manager, Bill Jones #BTHOF
Basil Bright's English League career never quite took off, but his time at @BarryTownUnited saw him play with the likes of Derek Tapscott, Bengt Berndtsson & Neil O'Halloran, and created a dynasty of later club luminaries such as Clive Ayres, Gavin Price & Mike Cosslett. #BTHOF
Clive Ayres was inducted into the @BarryTownUnited Hall of Fame on the pitch at @JennerPark3G in 2012, which was a great honour for the club during our centenary celebrations. Clive is one of our undisputed goal-machines and still lies 3rd on the all-time scorers list.
John 'Jack' Gardner was a true @BarryTownUnited club man, playing for over a decade as a centre-half from the 1920s and co-managing the club in the 1930s and 1940s. With almost 540 known appearances, this total could be much higher were it not for missing appearance stats.
Born-born Steve Williams is 3rd on our top-scorers list with 149 goals during our hugely successful 1980s Welsh League era. Steve also played for @MikeCosslett's 1992-93 Barry League side while @BarryTownUnited was exiled in Worcester, as well as later @CymruLeagues appearances.
James Wightman was @BarryTownUnited's first club captain. Born in Cumbria, James entered @UWTSD to study teacher training. He would later join Troedyrhiw AFC while teaching and signed for us as club captain. Our first. He was killed in France in April 1918 #LestWeForget
Chris Mason was one of only a handful of players to play for @BarryTownUnited before and after the war. He played over 400 times for the club, reached 2 Welsh Cup Semi Finals and won 2 Senior Cup medals. He lived in Merthyr Street and was a ship painter and decorator.
