Last week, Therapists across our trust came together to showcase the excellent work done across our hospitals to promote clinical effectiveness. A great opportunity to see the contribution across the different Therapy professions, well done to all who presented their work.
Eileen Kelly @EileenKellySLT is as a speech and language therapist at The Royal London Hospital. Through her Barts Charity Fellowship Eileen wants to find out if a treatment that uses electrical impulses to stimulate muscles could help with swallowing.
If successful, the treatment could help lots of patients get back to eating and drinking on their own much quicker and bring back a sense of normality on their road to recovery.

Recently St Bart's hospital AHP's ran a patient & family day, hosted by @BartsGuild. Patients & their relatives/friends were invited back to discuss their time in Intensive Care. A great example of how we strive at Barts to involve service users in improving care for all.
After Babatunde had a stroke, it affected his ability to speak, read and write. Before this, he spoke four languages and loved poetry.
Now, with the help of NHS colleagues at @NHSBartsHealth, Babatunde shares his first poem, showing just how far heโs come.
