Tried discovering new manga by sorting manga on Anilist that started publishing in 2024 and 2025 by score (not popularity). 8 out of the top 10 in both years were manhwa. Like I knew shonen jump was in decline but are there fewer good new manga in general?

@milspecshitpost The gameshow tropes also came from Japanese media. The novel and movie Battle Royal is the main progenitor of the genre. The Squid game creator even credits Battle royal along with the manga Kaiji: ultimate survivor as his main influences.

@MRavinderReddi The earliest statue of Narasimha from Ramtek is of great interest to me. It is dated to the 5th century CE and is unlike any later depiction. Here he already holds the sudarshana chakra which would identify him with Vishnu so I think its worth looking into the origin more.

@MRavinderReddi I read your 'Introduction to Vishnu' article and I thought it was brilliant but I was a disappointed by the Narasimha section which uses Jaiswal's description of his origin as “a local terror of the Punjab to be propitiated, absorbed into Viṣṇu only in the early centuries CE".
