@nysoxfan79 @BallParkBuzz Because there is a specific rule for the batter-runner between home and first. Anyone else can run ANYWHERE until a tag attempt is made. Then they can't deviate by >3 feet from an imaginary line from wherever they are to the base they're going to, to avoid a tag.
