Cutter this, changeup that. I think the path for Payton Tolle taking his next step might be something that nobody is talking about
For @OverTheMonster ⬇️
How can Patyon Tolle hit his ceiling? Here's
@Jake3Roy on the importance of throwing strikes and one tweak Tolle can make to reach his potential.

Thinking about doubling down on this take. He's still throwing 98 mph and a groundball that 9 times out of 10 is the third out snuck through the infield. Considering ignoring everything that came after that and being the Bello guy. Who cares about an opener
Listen, I don’t really think Brayan Bello is going to be the 3.35 ERA guy we saw last year, but on Friday he looked a lot more like that guy than he has at any point this season. More on what changed for @OverTheMonster ⬇️
Day game Bello is a thing (maybe) but here’s why I’m cautiously optimistic about him starting today instead of coming out of the pen

I can't explain it, but there's something about this time of year at Fenway where the ball just disappears in the air. It's really easy to lose it when it's high in the sky
I think there's a reason most pitchers more or less stay in one spot. Pitching is hard, and having a feel for your stuff when you're moving around complicates things even more.
100% agree that it's probably "optimal" to throw from two spots, but I think it's easier said than done, and why it's leaning on the numbers a little too much
Was looking into what went right for Greg Weissert last night, ended up stumbling on a whole lot more. If you want evidence of the Red Sox being a little too analytical, this might be it. 🧵
Greg Weissert has moved more towards the first base side of the rubber in his last two outings. Only one runner has reached base. Spent most of 2025 throwing from the first base side before moving over at the beginning of this season.
@ciaci4175@willclq37 I agree that moving him to one side of the rubber was good -- having him shift from side to side depending on the hitter is where I think they were doing too much
@willclq37 He was throwing from different sides of the rubber based on if a lefty or righty was hitting. To me, that seems like complicating things a little bit too much (and I like analytics!)

Here’s the video and audio from IKF.
He’s making it very clear that he’s talking about outside distractions surrounding the Red Sox when they’re at home. Pretty powerful statement from one of the veterans.
@jaycoorey@C2Cbsbl@OverTheMonster You guys should actually read the article and you’ll see that there are measurable changes that aren’t just coming out of the bullpen

"If Bello can command his changeup as he did on Friday, I might have to get on my soapbox and start screaming that he’s back."
@Jake3Roy on how the opener may have fixed Brayan Bello.
