Baseball card collecting, sabermetrics, soon TTM autograph collecting as well. Other than that, I mostly enjoy banlon and watching people run for their lives.
@PatrickRuffini@NateSilver538@NickRiccardi boy, fellow working stiffs, i tells ya, it sure does burden us regular johnny lunchpails when we goes ta the neighborhood steakhouse hoping for a dependable mcdonalds cheeseburger & instead we're forced to choose between steaks & lamb chops because they dont carry ground beef
@PatrickRuffini@NateSilver538@NickRiccardi preserve this thread in amber so later generations can study the perfect example of an anti-elitist pose inadvertently revealing deep elitism
ah yes, the many regular bars where you cannot find literally every one of the ten best-selling beers in America because of all the IPAs
Headed to my first @nsccshow event in a few minutes: the Trade Night frokm 6-10pm organized by @CardCollector2. Created a Google Sheet at https://t.co/zuaIyiAxAC with some of what I'm bringing; fingers crossed that I can find someone with an Anthony Rizzo available...
🚨 24 HOURS TO GO! 🚨
How about a trading card giveaway to celebrate the #TradeDeadline?
RETWEET for a chance at this 2019 @Topps complete set and keep it locked on MLB Network for the latest deadline coverage.
Rules in bio.
The lesson? Never don't keep absolutely everything, forever.
Having said that, this weekend I'll post a list of what I'm bringing to the NSCC to trade, including a #1/10 Juan Soto RC (2018 Topps Update Legends in the Making red). Hoping to target a nice Anthony Rizzo auto.
With the @nsccshow less than a week away, I present now a short but v sad story re: baseball cards.
I buy mostly retail, so I don't get a ton of big hits. But earlier this year I decided to sell one of my more decent pulls: a 2018 Bowman pre-RC auto of a 2nd/3rd-tier prospect.
It's that today I discovered that, back in 2014, Pete Alonso was a Madison Mallard, during a period when I lived in the area but just didn't happen to attend any games (we were busy; the kids were young; blah blah). And not only was he a Mallard: HE WON THE NORTHWOODS LEAGUE MVP.
First #ttmsuccess ever! On my first #ttm attempt, even! And for a Cubs fan, is there any better way to start than #ryno’s rookie card?
A million thanks to Ryne Sandberg for making my night after yet another sloppy, awful commute.
@Luedtke283 Gotta say, I enjoyed the hell out of watching that. Total bummer that the second card wasn't a hit, though. I'd kind of assumed that whatever is inside the rip card would be at least fairly decent/cool/unusual, but the Scherzer looked just like a standard mini? Sorry, man.
@_JustinBates hmmmmm they seem to have forgotten to include the many v v iconic onerepublic and little river band riffs that would have slotted right in next to barracuda and panama
JOE BUCK: "...they're responsible for some of the most iconic guitar riffs..."
ah yes, when one recalls the greatest riffs in the history of rock and roll, one cannot help but immediately think of onerepublic and little river band
@KAFChi18 I took the kids to their first Cubs game last year and my youngest got to meet him during pregame warmups; he was very kind and took a photo with her and signed a ball. I've been a huge fan ever since. Also the world needs more pitchers with an arm slot at or below horizontal.
