Reynolds arrives in Blacksburg after two seasons at Tennessee. He served as assistant coach (pitching) last year and also coached alongside John Szefc at Kansas State from 2011-12.

Chase Lummus, who held the role last season for the #Hokies, is now with Lamar.

Here’s the big one: #Hokies freshman superstar Ethan Ball is returning next season.

John Szefc keeps perhaps the best freshman to come through the program in his tenure — maybe ever.

Ball led VT with 18 doubles, 17 HR, 52 RBIs and a 1.081 OPS last season.

Really big one. Clay Grady missed all of the 2026 season with a wrist injury but has a year of eligibility remaining.

Grady is one of the ACC’s most agile infielders. The last we saw of him, he was batting .372 in May 2025.

#Hokies retain RHP Logan Eisenreich. Pretty big deal for a staff losing a lot of innings this summer.

6.07 ERA his sophomore season, but broke out during the last month of the year. 30 strikeouts over 22 innings in May with a 3.97 ERA.

#Hokies RHP Preston Crowl is in the transfer portal.

High-leverage/long-relief arm for VT last season, pitching 47.1 innings (third-most on the team) with a 7.61 ERA. He’s a draft-eligible, toolsy arm who wouldn’t be a shock to turn pro.

#Hokies C Anderson French enters the transfer portal.

Had a promising freshman year with a .818 OPS and three HR over 21 starts and 41 appearances, but saw limited action his sophomore season. He made 28 appearances (14 starts) and struggled (.662 OPS).

#Hokies LHP Chase Swift will enter the transfer portal.

In his sophomore season, he posted 38 strikeouts and a 3.63 ERA, the second-best mark on the team.

He made 16 appearances (22.1 IP) and carved out a role as a closer (two saves), but did not pitch after May 10.
