Dear Christian friends,
Do a word study on ‘hell’ and try to determine why Sheol / hades / Gehenna / Lake of fire have all become synonyms for “hell”

Here is where the argument breaks down.
If there is no mind, there is no concept...? OK.
Does math not exist if there are no minds to conceive it?
Does logic not operate if there are no minds in the universe?
Do the laws of physics (math) cease to operate as well?
This indicates a universal mind is necessary to hold universals (math, logic, etc).
Perhaps you should take your own advice.
Two brains can know 2+2=4; they are both thinking of the identical proposition. Yet according to Shawn this is only neurochemistry in the brain. By definition they cannot be identical - they are literally different molecules.
Your brain molecules are different than Shawn's brain molecules, yet somehow they come to the same conclusion on an abstract. That same conclusion in itself is proof of the immaterial, and shows why Shawn is indeed WRONG.
"...is itself abstract and thus immaterial..."
Abstractions exist only as neurochemistry in physical brains—there's no magical, "immaterial realm" where abstractions exist independently of neural wetware. Theists cling to dualism because it gives them hope for the supernatural.
Many people suffer. Your question is presuming that children should not suffer, but then how would that work…? Should adults suffer but children can’t?
In a sense there is already that to some degree in that children are innocent while adults are more aware of the evil in the world. The suffer this knowledge.
Take your point specifically about earthquakes… so should children always escape earthquakes but the parents may not?
Or maybe earthquakes should not exist? But why? How would this work.
You could go further; some kids drown in the ocean. Why should they suffer? So they somehow avoid this fate? Or drowning shouldn’t be possible?
But suppose we can now breathe underwater. Kids can still accidentally fall off a cliff. Should mountain cliffs not exist? Gravity shouldn’t be so strong? Maybe we should be able to fly?
Etc.
You can keep going down this line of thought and eventually get to the question: why are we not god.
@UngleYouou@D_Preacher_1 This is how atheist evotards think.
“Natural selection favors brains.,..”
Where did the brains come from….?
Oh ya dumb luck. Layers and layers and layers of dumb luck aka random mutations.
It had to happen that way because evolution.
Agree.
@andrz3jc this is where you are going wrong.
It also ignores the premise that this world is temporary, when you die you return to be with God. God can cause all people to die in judgment and is justified in doing so because He is the creator and can make a true and correct judgment.
We might but able to make some judgments but we are not the creator so do not have the same rights.
