(Petyr Baelish) understood how to manipulate people, but he ultimately misunderstood what real power was.

He believed power came from information, secrets, money, and controlling people from behind the scenes. His famous philosophy was essentially that chaos could be used as a ladder to climb higher. He successfully manipulated kings, nobles, and rival families for years.

But Littlefinger made a fatal mistake: he thought everyone could be manipulated as easily as the people he had deceived before. He underestimated Sansa, Arya, and especially the Stark family’s ability to see through him. By the time he was exposed in Winterfell, he had accumulated influence but had very little genuine loyalty or military strength. He had knowledge of power, but not the kind of power needed to survive when everyone turns against you.

MISCALCULATION

Littlefinger’s biggest mistake was underestimating the Stark family and believing he could manipulate them indefinitely.

He helped create the chaos that destroyed the Starks betraying Ned, lying about the dagger, and manipulating Sansa and Arya against each other. But he failed to understand that the Stark children would eventually become far more capable and united than he expected. His greatest mistake was trying to play Sansa against Arya; by then, Sansa had learned Littlefinger’s methods and turned them against him, leading to his execution.
