⚠️ Important Notice: Somalia eVisa is NOT Accepted in Somaliland! How to get your money back!
Many travellers recently lost money by applying for a Somalia eVisa, because they were refused boarding on international flights to Hargeisa, Somaliland.
👉 Somaliland does not recognise or accept Somalia’s eVisa. When you arrive in Hargeisa, immigration officers will reject it, and you’ll be forced to buy a new Somaliland visa on arrival — meaning you end up paying twice.
💳 What Can You Do?
If this happened to you (or someone you know), you can still get your money back through your bank or card provider using a process called a chargeback.
🪪 What Is a Chargeback?
A chargeback is when your bank reverses a payment because the service was not provided or was misrepresented — for example, a visa that turned out to be invalid for your destination.
✳️ Step-by-Step Guide to Claim a Chargeback
1️⃣ Gather your evidence:
• The payment confirmation or receipt for the Somalia eVisa
• Your flight ticket to Hargeisa
• Your Somaliland visa or visa-on-arrival receipt
• Screenshot or link proving that Somaliland has a separate visa system
2️⃣ Contact your bank or card provider
You can usually do this through their app or by phone.
Tell them:
“I’d like to dispute a payment for a Somalia eVisa. The visa was not valid for travel to Somaliland, and I was forced to buy another visa on arrival. The service was not provided as described.”
3️⃣ The bank files your claim
They’ll open a chargeback case with Visa or Mastercard and may give you a temporary refund while they investigate.
4️⃣ Wait for the outcome
If the Somalia eVisa office doesn’t respond or can’t prove that the service was valid, your refund will become permanent.
🕓 Time Limits
• You usually have up to 120 days from the date of payment or from when you discovered the issue.
• For travel-related payments, banks sometimes accept claims up to 540 days later.
✅ Key Tips
• Don’t apply through “Somalia eVisa” sites unless you’re actually travelling to Mogadishu or southern Somalia.
• Share this post so others don’t lose their money! 🙏
🗣️ Final Word
If you had to pay twice for your visa — once on the Somalia site and again on arrival in Somaliland — you have the right to get that first payment refunded.
Banks will support you if you clearly show that the Somalia eVisa was not valid for your travel.
Don’t lose your money — file your chargeback today. #Somaliland
Dube, a #former minister who recently resigned from his position in the Somali #Government, has arrived in #Somaliland. He said: "I was not absent from #Somaliland; I was away. Did Hassan Sheikh tax me?"
I hope I’m wrong, but this gives me a flashbacks of the previous modernisation project, where millions of $$ stolen by cabinet ministers. I had a little dig of locating this company, International Maharat Investment, and I can’t seem to find any traces of this organisation anywhere in UAE, no website, no social media channels, NADA, allow sahal amuraha #Somaliland
#Breaking: Historic $70M Deal to Transform Republic of Somaliland’s Egal International Airport
Minister of Civil Aviation and Airport Development, Hon. Fuaad Ahmed Nuux, has signed a landmark agreement with International Maharat Investment for the construction and modernization of Somaliland’s capital airport, Egal International Airport in Hargeisa.
The agreement, worth $70 million USD, was officially signed today at the prestigious Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).
This project represents the largest single investment ever made in #Somaliland’s aviation infrastructure and stands as the second-largest foreign investment project in the country, following DP World’s Berbera Port expansion.
Construction works at Egal International Airport are set to commence within six months of the signing, ushering in a new era of modern air travel and positioning Somaliland as a rising hub in regional aviation.

#Gabiley Mall is among the modern hubs in the Green Region🌾🌴, reflecting the community’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment.
This milestone not only advances commerce and infrastructure but also contributes meaningfully to Somaliland’s broader economic growth.
