So what should you do if you oversleep?

• Wake up
• Pray 2 rak‘ahs Sunnah
• Then pray Fajr Fard

Simple. No guilt. Just make it up.

“The two rak‘ahs of Fajr are better than the world and everything in it.”

The Prophet ﷺ and the companions once overslept on a journey.

When they woke up, he ﷺ: prayed the Sunnah of Fajr first, then the Fard.

“There is no negligence in missing prayer unintentionally through sleep. Negligence is only while awake. If one of you forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, let him pray it when he remembers.

What it means for someone not in Hajj

Even if you are not in Arafah physically, that same window becomes a personal opportunity:

• sincere du’a
• istighfar
• repeating the du’a of Arafah
• asking without limits

Why that specific time (Dhuhr → Maghrib)?

Because that is when the actual standing (wuquf) happens. It’s the heart of Arafah - the moment when mercy, forgiveness, and du’a all peak together.

And Allah descends to the lowest heaven in a manner befitting His majesty, praising His servants to the angels and saying that He has forgiven them.

The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah frees more people from Hell on the Day of Arafah than on any other day. (Sahih Muslim)
