Lagos!

For many years, anytime I have to visit Lagos, it usually comes with the fear of missing a turn and ending up in places I did not plan.

This is how I plan my movement: once I get to the city gate, a beloved friend takes over the wheel, or he picks me up with his own car. I call him my Lagos Google Map!

The moment he is driving, I am at rest. I know I would get to anywhere as planned. He knows the Lagos streets like the back of his hands, and he knows how to handle the drama of Lagos drivers and traffic.

This is not about Lagos and driving. It is about what happens to you when you commit your ways into the hands of the Lord.

When the Philistines wanted to return the ark of the covenant to Israel, they placed it on a cart driven by two cows. There was no man on the cart; it was just the ark of the covenant. See what the scripture says about that movement:

“Then the cows headed straight for the road to Beth Shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right hand or the left.”
I Samuel 6:12 NKJV

It made it to the nation of Israel! It made it home. If you know how to trust the Lord, things will always end well. Hear what the Psalmist says about it:

“Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!”
Psalms 37:5 TPT

Does God have the leadership in your life?
Do you trust him to lead and guide you?

Just like I am at rest when my friend takes over the wheel, you can be at rest when God leads. Was that not what the Psalmist said? The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes sure I get to green pastures and still waters. I get restored, renewed, and I can stay at rest!

Stop arguing with the one who knows the way.
Stop trying to use your head when you can enjoy His help.
Stop trying to be smarter than the leading of the Spirit.
Lean in on what the Lord has supplied- His presence!

If there's one thing that I've learnt and has dawned on me over time especially between last year and now is the fact that MINISTRY IS NOT CHILD'S PLAY.

PLEASING GOD: THE ULTIMATE GOAL!

There was an interesting night that we were having some difficulty resolving our disagreements. It was one of those nights that the atmosphere grew cold, and it seemed like it would remain that way.

Suddenly, we heard our neighbours' voices at the back of the house. We looked out and saw they were trying to kill a snake. I rushed for the car keys. Irewamiri came with me. We got into the car and drove to the back of the house. The car headlamps would be helpful.

Unfortunately, the huge snake escaped. We drove back home and resumed our silent wars. What an amazing couple we were; we could come together to deal with a snake outside our home, but we were willing to go to bed with our snakes right inside our house.

Your life is not just about putting up an appearance to men that all is going on well with you or your marriage. The goal is to please God, especially when no one is watching also. Paul stated that if he was still trying to please men, he will not be a bondservant of Christ (Gal. 1:10)

Beloved, you are either trying to please men or walking and living to please the Lord. Your life is not made to prove a point but to please the Lord. Since you have been trying hard to prove a point to men, what have you gained? For instance, marriage is sweet when your "pepper-them-to-match" attire is not a covering for the pepper that is stinging you both hard at home. Kill the snake in the house. Stop living with "snake issues". Deal with that slippery issue. Knock it hard on the head. Do not let it eat you up.

By extension, beware of friendship that is generated because you have a common enemy. It never lasts long. When the common enemy is eliminated, you become the enemy of one another. There are many friendship that is "common-enemy" motivated. Do not fall for that trap.
