Outside questions have mounted in recent weeks about how Penn State should handle its QB situation in the second half of the season.

Backup Alex Manske hasn’t appeared in game action since September 19 vs. Buffalo. On Wednesday, Matt Campbell explained why:

"Oh, I would say he’s absolutely physically up to the task. I think the more important thing for us is, with the guys that have at least earned the reps to be on the field, trying to find the best rhythm for our football team with those guys.

"And obviously, that doesn’t mean Alex isn’t close to being ready to help us or not practicing well; that doesn’t mean that at all. I think it’s more of, [we have] full faith in what our football team can do, and trying to get them to be able to do consistently what they’re able to do to be the best that we can be.”

Matt Campbell said that during the bye week, the Penn State staff took a deep dive on both the good and bad moments of QB Rocco Becht’s play:

“I feel very convicted about Rocco. There's a lot of good football in there. There's a lot of really good playing in that.

“Man, you watch college football last week. When he's at his best, he's playing good football, he's giving us a chance to win the games.

“I think some of the areas where he has to be better to win the games is evident as well. I think it gave us a lot of time and effort to go correct those things and have a great plan moving ourselves forward.”

Kennedy Martin was named the AVCA National Player of the Week for her performance in Penn State’s two ranked wins last weekend.

Martin put up 25 kills vs. No. 10 Oregon and 21 kills vs. No. 18 Indiana.

She was also named Big Ten Player of the Week.
