The Denver Nuggets are matching the Oklahoma City Thunder's two-year, $12 million offer sheet on Spencer Jones, retaining the key forward in restricted free agency, sources tell ESPN. Nuggets valued keeping their homegrown player whom they landed on an undrafted deal in 2024.

Thunder lose Chip Engelland

The Houston Rockets are hiring Chip Engelland as a new assistant coach on Ime Udoka's staff, sources tell ESPN. Engelland -- well-regarded in player development and shooting speciality -- spent the last four seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder after a 17-year run in San Antonio (2005-2022) where he built a relationship with Udoka.

It’s all about money lol I think a team with possibly the best player in the league would rather have the known over the unknown bc they don’t wanna waste prime years. Everything they’ve done this offseason was about money. Now, they’re very fortunate to be in a situation where they have assets to replace guys going out

Seeing a lot of people say the Thunder got worse this offseason and objectively speaking, I can see why. Biggest strength was depth and replacing that depth with unknowns in Mara, Topic, Sorber, and Stirtz. Until we know what they bring kinda fair to say they got “worse”

Or can also look at it from the standpoint of Caso getting a bigger role and JDub and Ajay being healthy will be a big plus which means they didn’t get worse.
