For nearly as long as looms have been used to process natural fibers into wearable textiles, cultures have been identified by their clothing.

With technological advancements in the textile industry and the expansion of global trade networks, however, variety abounds in fabric and ready-to-wear options and many have abandoned their traditional dress for the sake of convenience and economy. This wasn't the case in the past.

Due to financial and political challenges, there were times when they had nothing to wear except Kurdish clothes made from fabrics woven by locals using century-old weaving machines. Though the fabric was labor-intensive to produce and itchy to wear, it was a saving grace in times of need.

Originally a product of necessity, these outfits have become a point of honor and individuality.

بەهۆی باری دارایی و سیاسییەوە، کات هەبووە هیچ بەرگێکی تریان نەپۆشییوە جگە لە جل و بەرگی کوردی کە بە دەستی خەڵکی ناوچەکە و بەو دەزگایانەی چەند سەدەیە کاردەکەن بەرهەمهاتبوون. هەرچەندە قوماشەکە کاری زۆری دەویست بۆ بەرهەمهێنان و لە لەبەرکردندا زبرن، بەڵام لە کاتی پێویستیدا نیعمەت بوو.

ئەم جلوبەرگانە لە بنەڕەتدا بەرهەمی پێویستیی بوون و لە ئێستادا بوونەتە شێوازێک بۆ شانازیکردن بە ڕابردوو و پیشاندانی کەسێتی.
