We have our second Barbastelle bat in 12 years. Juvenile male found in carpark north of Wickwar in South Gloucestershire. Very thin, is appreciating milk feeds

Serotine has just managed to eat a whole mealworm and some bits of mealworm along with Royal Canin Puppy milk. Getting stronger but still weak and thin and lethargic

Bat carers are getting thin starving weak juvenile bats at the moment. This Serotine, found on a road, was brought to us by vet staff from Stroud. We're giving regular feeds and it is starting to move now.

Our two Leisler pups getting on well. Still drinking plenty of Royal Canin Puppy milk- we gradually wean them onto mealworms as the milk formula is better for developing pups. Milk first then mealworm. When they are ready they'll go to a flightcage- usually early August.

Thanks to Zetland Road Vets and Rosemary Lodge Vets for passing two Pipistrelle pups to us today. Vet staff at both did great job giving the pups milkfeeds

@TimSmit12980227 Royal Canin puppy milk. Several years ago bat carers used Esbilac but the recipe changed with disastrous consequences across the UK for bat pups being hand reared

This is Pebble our first 2023 bat pup.

Pebble and a dead cousin were found earlier this week. We had no luck reuniting Pebble with mum so are now handrearing Pebble

Our second bat pup of 2023 was another Leisler's from Leisler's Central in Redland Bristol. Sadly we had to ask Zetland Road vets to euthanaise the pup due to injuries.

Myotis bat pups first like Daubenton's, and now in Bristol we can expect a call any minute for the first Pipistrelle pups.

We've heard that baby bat season has officially started! The first wild pups have been reported in East Sussex, from a Daubenton's bat!
Very exciting!
