We have a lot of laws that need to evolve with the changing times. But the simple fact is, because it does not stand to benefit the politicians or it can potentially hurt their businesses, they do not care.

We need legislators who work for the greater good.

Why shouldn’t moneyed politicians be legislators? Simple. They are inclined to do (or not do) two things:

1. They will not pass any law that will hurt their businesses; and

2. They will push for laws that will benefit them.

To my colleagues in the profession: Most of the time, we are put in the best position to evaluate an issue with rationality and free from bias. It is therefore imperative for us tell our clients the uncomfortable truths that they need to hear before they make their decisions.

After speaking to some lawyers, I realized that not everyone is willing to give advice for free, even to friends and relatives. They would gate-keep their knowledge in favor only of those willing to pay for it.

While I perfectly understand it, I am not a fan of this mindset.
