The core issue is that the law is freely up to interpretation
For example *Offending public morality* is not defined therefore anyone can freely interpret what offends the public and file a lawsuit and a judge will interpret as he sees fit depending on his background.
Next to that comes laws that prohibit sharing/spreading „rumours“ or state secrets as well as spreading rumours that harm the Syrian economy.
If someone complains that the prices are going up across Syria then the Syrian government can simply call that a rumour and put the person into jail.

The Syrian elite can now throw whatever person they want into jail - no Syrian will be allowed to criticise them, let alone question them.

Who could’ve foreseen that a government run by Turkey and Al Qaida won’t produce a prosperous democracy but rather an oppressive governmental entity? - unforeseeable!

The man killed in the US drone strike in Mashhad Rouhin last night has been identified as "Abu Abdullah," the son of Radwan Nammous (better known as Abu Firas al-Suri), a former senior leader of the al-Nusra Front who was close to Syria’s current president, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani.

Abu Firas al-Suri, a veteran global jihadist, arrived in Syria in 2013 aiming to broker a reconciliation between al-Nusra and ISIS.

By 2016, however, he had become one of the top leaders of al-Nusra.

He was killed that same year in a US strike alongside another of his sons. That strike was among the last conducted by the United States against the group.

Shortly afterward, al-Nusra rebranded as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). In 2017, the Trump administration halted all US strikes against it, paving the way for eventual cooperation with al-Jolani.

There is still no information about casualties from other strikes the took place overnight. The death of Sami Mahmud Mohammed al-Oraydi is also yet to be confirmed or denied.
