Season Review (1/2)
An incredible season has come to a close. I've met so many amazing new people who helped me along the way, and I’ve also managed to grow a lot personally. Just when I think there's not much room left for me to improve in this game, entirely new perspectives, strategies, and mindsets open up. I’ve always been more interested in the math and philosophy of the game than simply which player to put in, and my goal is to further research and understand this moving forward. Up next: World Cup Fantasy.
Finally, I owe a huge thank you to the following:
-@SolioAnalytics: I had the chance to take part in testing before the start of the season, and since then I have a much better understanding of how a model works. It was also one of the cornerstones of my decision-making this year.
-@fplreview: My most important decision-making tool.
-@SynergyFPL: I joined mid-season and I’m still incredibly grateful for it. It felt amazing to be part of the best Analytics Mini-League in the world, filled with brilliant and helpful people.
Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone who supported the content I tried to deliver consistently and precisely. If that wasn't enough and anyone needed personalized help, I was always available and tried to explain everything accurately (completely for free, of course). Thank you!
2026 World Cup Fantasy resources 🌍
Here's the collection of resources I'm using for my #WorldCupFantasy draft:
- Predicted lineups
- Set pieces
- Available projected points, models, solvers
- All pre-World Cup friendlies results
- Projected R32 matchups
🧵 1/6
We built https://t.co/JLfEkvyJsq (type your #FPL ID and see your season vs model projection for your team, against 13.1M managers or 3.5M active managers who used 6+ chips)
Some people loved it, but not everyone is happy with it.
A short thread on what "luck" actually measures.
Here's my initial #WorldCupFantasy draft:
Disclaimer: I'm using projected points from @TheFantasyTool_ to help with decision-making. 📊📈
...and to beat @FPLPhysioo & @AlexVolloFPL (see their profiles for context 😇).
I'm fairly confident going all-out from the start, similar to UCLFantasy, where I finished top 200 🌎, using all 3 chips in the first 3 gameweeks.
---
With this team, I plan to:
MD1: Maximum Captain
MD2: 12th Man (Mbappe) and one booked transfer: Musiala --> Vinicius (I've left exactly 2m ITB for this)
MD3: Wildcard (essentially a Free Hit)
Therefore, I've selected players from teams with excellent fixtures for MD1 & MD2 (3 from GER, ESP & COL), while carefully booking a single transfer to make sure I have both Vini Jr. & Mbappe in GW2.
Looking forward to hear your thoughts on chip strategy, players I might have overlooked, and more 🤗

🚨💣 BREAKING: Liverpool reach agreement in principle to appoint Andoni Iraola as new manager, here we go! 🔴🫱🏻🫲🏼
Exclusive story from Saturday, 100% confirmed: Arne Slot left and Iraola will lead #LFC project, as expected.
Talks advanced over last 48h and deal in place.
🚨🚨 EXCLUSIVE: ARNE SLOT AND LIVERPOOL TO PART WAYS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. 💣
It’s over between the Dutch manager and Liverpool after end of the season review. 👋🏼
Andoni Iraola, clear favorite to take over as next #LFC head coach.
Ultimately data ranks show the optimality of your decisions. We want to get a good rank. How can you achieve that? -by making good decisions. If your data rank is good, then that’s a great indicator that you played well.
Variance exists. There’re scenarios where someone has an incredible data rank but finishes >500k and the opposite is as well. So it adds objectivity to measure how well you played.

Thank you, that means a lot! And of course. I don't usually go into it with ultra-specific goals, but I think a baseline of Top 50k and an ambitious Top 10k are good targets. After seeing my EV ranks, I was hoping to break into the Top 100, but because of a few unlucky outcomes, my rmEV rank didn't quite make it. I think my xMinEV would have gotten me there, but I accidentally started O’Reilly in GW38. 😆
But my main goal is always to learn more about the math of the game (probability, statistics etc.) and the philosophy behind decision-making, and I definitely succeeded in that!
GW38 —Pure chaos.
I hope it went through well, as the site crashed at :29.
Insane jam with O’Reilly not in the squad… I get Mosquera (who I’m feeling optimistic about) and hopefully Van Hecke if Gabriel doesn’t play at all.
Haaland to Bowen (C) was my only move.
Good luck!🍀
Nico O'Reilly and Rayan Cherki do not start for Manchester City.
