Here is something that my industry needs to understand.... and change if they feel they aren't aligned with this philosophy.

Look at this photo. What do you see?

Blue sky. Green trees. Brown (winter) trees. Pink cherry flowers (bottom left). A little stream. Green grass. Clay and pathways.

I see absolute beauty.

This is New Zealand.

Do you know what else you can see?

A digger. A truck. Is that grabbing machine called a loader? It's used to remove trees. I can also see a couple of guys standing there discussing something.

This is important. Development.

Development creates homes for the growing population.

It creates jobs for the growing population.

It creates security for the people.

What I'm concerned about is the WAY we're developing.

This photo was taken from the widow at my gym (Aspire, Bethlehem) - we are so lucky to have machines overlooking such a gorgeous view of nature!!!

I wondered though as I ran on my little machine.... what will this view be like once these guys have completed their project?

It breaks my heart sometimes when I see developments popping up.

In the spa I got chatting with a guy who lives in the place across the road. I asked what he likes & doesn't like about it (I'm in planning ohase for my apartment Building so these questions are super important) & he said the thing he misses the most is the garden & the lawns. The windows are really small, but it's nice to be close to the river. This is all good research! The deepest research is in the deepest most personal conversations - not necessarily in a survey form (although we have this available as well).

This is why I have created Project Connect. It's a month to month community where investors, home owners, change makers, developers, accommodation providers gather to connect (hence the name) and share their research, learn from each other, with guided inquiry into the depths of meaning & possibility.

We are the ones who create lives for people through their home living spaces, & temporary accommodation.

We are responsible for the well-being of the country.

Here's something I usually keep to myself.

Because I'm a whole person, full of all the love in the world to give to the right people, I created this business. I hope my life's work really makes a difference.

Read on for my soul exposed.

We have so many societal issues these days:
- loneliness & isolation (even being so well plugged in!?!?)
- poor health & well-being (mental & physical)
- excessive waste (more & more stuff we don't need or overuse of resources)
- early signs of old age (dementia rates are increasing at younger ages)
- youth drug use, skipping school, lack of knowledge of nutrition + social anxiety increase, (among other youth challenges)
- increase in depression & suicide/aggression & anger
- overloaded medical facilities leading to lengthy wait times & unnecessary deaths
- global temperatures changing, storming, earth shakes, natural disasters increasing rapidly
- city spread from population growth
- toxic environments (chemical pollutants, dyes & sprays)
- loss of green space & biodiversity (badly designed countries/cities/buildings, forest clearing, trend of 'easy care, maintenance free')
- excessive stress levels as a new baseline
- rising taxes & living costs
- disconnection from nature & balance
- food insecurity (& costs rising)
- cultural & political division, as well as religious & spiritual division (causing conflict)
- community fragmentation (loss of connection between the generations)

And some.

I'm on a mission to help lead a positive change.

We focus whole heartedly on repair of these issues, connection of the people, land & spaces that make us complete.

Today I'm volunteering at the Saint John op shop in Brookfield. I do this every Monday. I love second hand wherever possible for so many reasons:

1) reduces fast fashion waste by not going to stores that increase this style

2) reduces landfill waste by reusing - which is even better than recycling

3) provides opportunity for lower income households to access good quality products
