It's to remind you that he's a psychopath who fundamentally enjoys killing, not some 'dark knight' type morally off-white good guy. To be more precise, since carbon dioxide dissolves and mixes in air evenly, you don't get pockets of 'bad air' in a modern home. This means that a small 1 to 2 inch gap at the bottom of a door is sufficient to keep the air in the room oxygenated - you just need the air to mix at the interface. But when you block that, suddenly inspectors start failing you for a CO (certificate of occupancy) when building a new home. I've been failed for that because my guy thought it'd be nice to have hermetically sealed bedrooms.

You have TEN times the luxury I had on my boat. My rack was 70% the size of yours. I had no galley. My shower was a bucket. In the Keys in July with no fan, no power of any kind in the boat. Literally crying in the middle of the night because the humidity and heat was making me throw up. Got the runs for two weeks and the only thing that saved me was the 30 gallons of water I happened to have onboard.

Oh, and I didn't have thousands of sailors watch my back. I was just alone. Broke. Homeless on the water in a vessel that had more roaches than sand on a beach.

It was hell.
