There are so many unsung heroes in women's history. 👩📚
@BaylorHistory's Dr. Andrea Turpin & Amy Achenbach share two of their favorites:

We have a NEW Baylor History PhD! Join us in congratulating DR. Campbell @HeidiOCampbell on a successful dissertation defense under the direction of Dr. Beth Allison Barr. 👏👏👏
This Black History Month, we were honored to hear from Dr. Ronald Angelo Johnson, the Ralph and Bessie Mae Lynn Chair of History and Associate Professor at Baylor University.
He explored the intertwined struggles for freedom during the American Revolution.
The Big 12 Conference announced its first-ever Big 12 Faculty of the Year Award, recognizing the outstanding faculty at Big 12 institutions who have excelled in areas of innovation and research on their campus.
Encompassing all 16 Big 12 members, these dedicated faculty members represent and reflect all the best attributes that make a college campus a bastion for learning and growth.
🚨 A MUST READ: @BaylorHistory PhD student @sjflanagan17 wrote brilliant piece for @BlkPerspectives on #history of Black women's health.
“Today, Black women continue to seek control over their bodies & pregnancies. They face incredible risks.”

My first book comes out next week with Oxford University Press. From beginning to end, it’s a book that does not exist without @Baylor’s support and resources.
It began as a dissertation project while I was a PhD student in history, taking classes and learning from professors in the Tidwell building.
I spent thousands of hours in the Baylor libraries, combing through old magazines, analyzing microfilm, reading all the relevant books, and making interlibrary loan requests (shoutout to the awesome librarians).
It might seem like a small thing, but playing pickup basketball every week in the rec center was huge for me during those years.
After I finished my PhD, I spent a year as a college professor in Pennsylvania. But I returned to work at @TruettSeminary in 2019. There I was able to edit, revise, and reshape things until I turned the dissertation into an actual book.
Put simply, institutions matter. I’m grateful for all the people who have made Baylor a unique place where Christian faith and serious research goes together.

Really excited to have a chapter in this new book for secondary and college teachers on incorporating religion into their American history courses. I’ve written on women’s history. Hopefully it’s helpful for August course prep! @kjjohnsonhist
Excited for the opportunity to read and review @danielsilliman’s new religious biography of Richard Nixon in the Journal of Presbyterian History this fall! Such a fascinating and important figure, can’t wait to dig into this one.
