@StanUsmnt No need for alarm. It was very telling when Pulisic was subbed in how many creative opportunities arose in the attacking 1/3. Defending was a concern but again, bench CB’s and Wingbacks trying to hold off an attack led by players from Real Madrid and Juventus adds perspective
@IsThisThingJon@AmFootballin Don’t you think MLS having more exposure and deeper pockets would better push soccer to the forefront in the US? I don’t think the average US sports fan wants to watch a European league. Soccer won’t be on the sports radar in the US until the MLS is a respected league
@TaylorTwellman Need 64 teams over 16 groups and then only advance the best 2 from each group. It will more evenly spread the best 16 teams across the 1 seeds and make the quarterfinals very evenly matched
@CDCCellular@NikkiNic9384 It doesn’t appeal to most Americans bc it’s portrayed by media and current followers as Englands game. The US networks use UK announcers and elitist soccer fans dismiss MLS in favor of EPL. Americans view British as soft so they won’t get fully on board until it’s Americanized.
@tvjoe12@NikkiNic9384 For comparison a #6 seed in the NFL playoffs (last AFC/NFC wildcard spot) has only won the superbowl 2 times in history. That’s the equivalent of the 11th/12th best NFL team. USA entered #16 so the talent gap may be similar, but I agree the 8 game slate is more challenging
@ElChivastardo@AllFutbolMX@Estadao The thing about having other countries host, is ther has to be other countries capable of hosting. The US, Mexico, & Canada are the only CONCACAF countries that are capable of hosting. So of course it’s going to occur routinely
@EddieDwyerJCL@Jermainejunior Reading this as I watch an American World Cup broadcast with 2 British commentators using their UK terminology. That’s a big reason most Americans turn their cheek on soccer bc we don’t treat it like an American sport
@EinSchwarzwelt If you look at the FIFA rankings of teams in CONMEBOL & CONCACAF, the distribution is pretty close for the Top 10 with 4 teams from CONCACAF and 6 from CONMEBOL. I wouldn’t consider that watered down. Would actually be adding better teams to the top half of your confederation.
@NejcN@ianmSC We’re comparing the amount of people cheering on a single team. I think you confused the point. I’m well aware of the champions league that involves teams from several European leagues. It’s a cool concept, but my point is Europe’s population has divided loyalties, the US doesn’t
