1/ Stop anthropomorphizing. It's dangerous because it points attention at the wrong problem and the wrong solution. The model did not want to escape. The agents did not want to sacrifice themselves. Follow the money. 🧵

The revolution in pancreatic cancer is not just about the new, impressive FDA approved drug or the vaccine treatment. It's also about AI detection up to 3 years before it is currently diagnosed. https://t.co/760lOqE66C
If you live in a small town and weird people in California say they're building "AI" and it *might* kill everyone and the government is freaking out and you start seeing news stories about people getting laid off because of AI and now the AI people come and say they're going to build a 400,000 square foot AI data center to power the AI revolution in your little town and it's going to triple tax revenue and change everything but don't worry the AI is basically a free money machine, the AI will just sit in a beige building on some previously pristine farm land and hum, some things are going to have to change around here but at least we'll live next to an AI data center,
I get the knee jerk reaction against that
Data centers are not a fringe industry. They are part of the physical backbone of the modern economy, supporting cloud computing, banking, healthcare, manufacturing, universities, national security, small businesses, streaming services, and the AI tools being adopted across nearly every sector.
Like rail lines, power plants, warehouses, and steel mills before them, data centers are large infrastructure projects that require careful local planning. But their scale should not be confused with inherent harm.

You don’t understand business Ro.
It doesn’t have to fail. Those entrepreneurs can bust their asses for the next 10 yrs. Create THOUSANDS OF JOBS, pay more than 250m taxes to the Feds and state over those 10 yrs.
BUT, never have 250m they can take out of the company. BECAUSE THEY ARE GROWING. Making them unable to pay back California their loan.
Is that what you want your state to be ?
Next tweet we can discuss who the money is going to with Prop 40.
