Jason Everman, the man who got booted from both Nirvana and Soundgarden, two of the most iconic bands in music history, and then became a US Army Ranger and Green Beret.

Born on a remote Alaskan island and mostly raised in small-town Washington, Everman discovered the guitar in an unusual way. After he and a buddy got in trouble for blowing up a junior high toilet with a firecracker, therapy sessions led him to pick up the instrument. It clicked. By the late ’80s, he was living the rock and roll fantasy most people only dream about.

He joined Nirvana on guitar, personally funding the recording of their debut album Bleach, and later switched to bass for Soundgarden.
Yet somehow, he became the guy both bands ultimately let go, the very groups that would go on to shape an entire genre. As he later admitted, it crushed him.

Plenty of people would have milked that “I was in Nirvana and Soundgarden” story for the rest of their lives. Everman chose a completely different path. He traveled the Himalayas, spent time in a Buddhist monastery searching for answers, and when that didn’t provide them, he did something almost no one saw coming: in 1994, he enlisted in the US Army.

He earned a spot in the elite 2nd Ranger Battalion, left, then returned to tackle the notoriously brutal Special Forces Qualification Course. He ultimately became a Green Beret with 3rd Special Forces Group and deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. The former long haired rocker had transformed into a quiet, highly capable soldier.
Even that wasn’t the end of his reinventions.

After leaving the military, he earned a philosophy degree from Columbia University (with a recommendation letter from General Stanley McChrystal) and later returned to music as part of the all-veteran band Silence & Light.

Artist, soldier, philosopher, the three identities he always said he wanted to cultivate within himself. Few lives are as unlikely or as genuinely inspiring as Jason Everman’s. It’s powerful proof that with enough courage, a person can reinvent themselves as many times as it takes.

My dauggter is rapidly approaching a kidney transplant. She is esrd on dialysis for the last year. Multiple serious complications including pericardial effusion with tamponade causing cardiac arrest. She is a 24 yr old 4'7" with a history of neuroblastoma, cavernoma, liposarcoma and many other diagnoses. She has not been vaccinated for covid. I won't allow it. She had however been transfused in the past year. Im worried. I think they might find a way to deny transplant because of no vax. Im afraid it will kill her. We're at HUP. Treated at Cooper for the arrest. I would love to know of some docs that are awake to what's going on. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Seriously, the egregious actions of some of the doctors and nurses and the horrendous state of our healthcare system has me pulling my hair out. I am at my wits end with these people. I wouldnt be surprised at all to find out that she has been vaccinated during one of her many procedures. Heads will roll. It would explain maybe a few things that have happened like sudden unexplained blood clots that were never an issue she delt with before,heart issues included. I am begging for some help. A name of a good doc would be a literal life saver. Please. Someone hear me.

The activist bar just lost its favorite playground, and the tantrum is going to be spectacular.

For years the preferred venue for any terrorism-adjacent alien case was the ordinary district courtroom ... the one where you can forum-shop until you find a friendly judge, turn discovery into a fishing expedition through classified files, stretch the litigation across multiple election cycles, and, if the terrorism claim starts looking solid, simply pivot the whole thing into a heartbreaking asylum story complete with press conferences and candlelight vigils.

That entire toolkit just got locked in a drawer.

The Alien Terrorist Removal Court doesn’t play those games. The opening phase is sealed. The classified evidence stays with an Article III judge who already sits on the FISA court ... it does not get handed to the respondent, the New York Times, or the Iranian intelligence service. Discovery into national-security material is sharply restricted. The Federal Rules of Evidence do not apply. Deadlines are compressed because Congress understood that delay is usually the real prize. Appeals go to one place: the D.C. Circuit. And once the court actually finds the person is an alien terrorist, six of the classic escape hatches ... asylum, withholding, cancellation, adjustment, registry, voluntary departure ... slam shut permanently.

No more endless procedural trench warfare. No more converting a national-security case into political theater. No more treating the intelligence community’s sources and methods like a public library.

They demanded judicial supervision. They got the one court Congress built when it wanted results instead of a multi-year performance art piece.

The playground is closed. The toys have been confiscated. And the people who spent a decade treating immigration court like a resistance theme park are about to discover what an actual national-security tribunal feels like.

This stretch of Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri is known as the “Musical Road.” When you drive exactly 30 mph, the precisely spaced ridges in the pavement make your tires play the melody of America the Beautiful.

It was originally created as a fun tribute to the historic highway and the song’s connection to American patriotism. The effect only works at that specific speed — too fast or too slow and it just sounds like regular road noise.

One of the coolest hidden gems on the Mother Road.
