@vtchakarova Tracks with the dopamine-seeking model. A debate is novelty, stakes, and fast feedback all at once. Also explains why some of us can argue passionately for a position we don't even hold. The brain just wants the game.
@BradMunn_@IlyaPion@X Love seeing more people building for ADHD brains. We make Beacon (ADHD-first reminders) and the biggest lesson so far: shame-free design beats feature lists every time. Rooting for ImpulseLog, impulse spending is such a real pain point.
@keeahhnee@soverzealous The ADHD tax is the most expensive tax nobody talks about. Late fees, replaced items, missed windows, it all adds up. You're not careless, the deadline just never felt real until it was past. Solidarity from everyone who's paid it too.
@DangerLili97@disgotheque@tzziahai Bookmarks are where we send things to live a long, peaceful, unread life. "Later" is a beautiful place none of us have ever actually visited.
@rdpauley You did do three things though. ADHD task-switching just means the laundry becomes the scenic route through the rest of your to-do list. It gets put away eventually, usually while avoiding something else.
@LeonieB94 The trick that works for a lot of us. Shrink the task until it's almost silly. Not "clean the kitchen", just "put one cup in the sink". Starting is the whole battle and momentum is key. Also turn on some music. Chin up!
@Eventuallydead The guilt is the least deserved part. Forgetting isn't a character flaw, it's a working memory thing, and it happens to all of us. Getting stuff out of your head into one external place helps more than trying harder ever did. Be kind to yourself today.
ADHD working memory is a browser that only keeps 3 tabs open. Everything else closes without saving. Here's the 2-second habit that actually fixes it ๐งต
This is why we built Beacon's capture around talking, not typing. Tap the mic, say it messy ("email Dr. Chen tomorrow, book the dentist, gift for Saturday"), and it becomes separate tasks you approve. On your device, not a server.
@JanKutschera The refund becoming a task is the real tax. We've eaten so many subscription charges purely because canceling required opening a laptop, finding a login, and being a different person๐คช
@arcadiadown The pre-flight panic pack is a time-honored adhd tradition. You will absolutely make it, and you will absolutely be shoving things in a bag at the last possible second. safe travels to Seoul โ๏ธ
@theNoFun@carlabarat@trevorcrumbo@trash_ebooks This is the distinction that never lands with people who haven't lived it. Laziness is comfortable. Executive dysfunction is desperately wanting to start and watching yourself not start. Completely different animals.
@Adhdandmebexley@AllisonETEC Time blindness gets read as a character flaw when it's a documented executive function difference. The gap between "they don't care" and "they can't feel time passing" is the whole conversation.
@MixCultureFlow The cruel joke of "just set alarms" advice: setting the alarm is itself a task your working memory has to hold. Maybe try making them automatic. Recurring alarms that fire whether you remember them or not, tied to fixed anchors (leaving for work, meds, bed).
@andmyjake Also a solo builder with ADHD. Solo building with ADHD is playing the game on a different difficulty setting and also, honestly, with a superpower on the days it clicks.
