Beacon Securities was thrilled to be a part of the most recent @MFAOBC debenture issue, a $610mm no-grow new 5yr bond. On March 30, MFABC launched and priced a new 3.40% 3-Jun-2031 Sustainable Bond. The issue was very well received by investors as the final book size was over $1.6bn with 48 buyers. As a result of the strong demand, the bonds were able to tighten 0.5bp from initial pricing thoughts to price at +27bps vs. the Canada benchmark, or +5.5bps back of the Ontario curve. On October 15, MFABC reopened their 4.05% 3-Jun-2035 Sustainable Bond for $420mm to create a 725mm line. The bonds, priced at +57bps vs. the Canada benchmark, or 5bps back of Ontario, were very well received by investors as books were over twice subscribed and final books had 47 buyers.

After having been added to the FNFA syndicate in December, Beacon Securities was pleased to be involved with FNFA’s January debenture issue. At $650M, the new 10-year benchmark was the largest single transaction for FNFA. The bonds were well received by investors. FNFA may be back with another issue in 2025.

FNFA was formed in 1992 as a non-profit Indigenous-owned and controlled institution. Since 2014, FNFA has issued over $3B in bonds into debt capital markets to fund First Nation loans. The vision and mission of FNFA is to help First Nations build their own futures on their own terms.
