It’s a shame that campaigns use oppo research as a substitute for a message of their own. I got a call yesterday from a politics reporter at a top 3 newspaper (hint: NOT the supposedly “liberal” ones). This same reporter had assiduously avoided me for months. He gets on the phone to ask me about a bunch of select cherry-picked quotes from my 3 books that had been handed to him by a competitor’s campaign. When the reporter started citing things I didn’t actually say in the books at all, I challenged him to cite which page he was reading from…at which point he admitted he hadn’t even opened my books & was clearly just reading from the oppo file handed over to him. This is “journalism” today. These guys are repeat swamp players, scratching each others’ backs for favors. I don’t play that game. I’m going to lift the curtain on the broken government bureaucracy, the donors & consultants who pull the strings, and the compliant “reporters” who do their bidding. 🇺🇸
