Me I'm not a music enthusiast o, but with what I have seen outside Nigeria (when I discuss Nigeria with a random person outside Nigeria - which I have done in at least 20 countries), here is the order of popularity in recent years:
1. Burna Boy
2. Davido
3. Wizkid
Rema, Yemi Alade and some other random guys I don't even know are also a shout for that 3rd spot. Or 4th below.
Talking about random guys, I didn't even know Ric Hassani was Nigerian until a Tanzanian mentioned him as his favourite Nigerian artiste.
But Burna Boy is the most consistent first mention.
Family, friends, musical artists and legends, as well as admirers, have gathered in Lagos in a colourful celebration of the 90th birthday of Pa Benson Idonije, the grandfather of Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy.
The red carpet shimmered with elegance as guests arrived in style, but beyond the glitz and glamour is a deeper story — one that connects generations of African music greatness, from the era of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti to the global dominance of Burna Boy.
Pa Idonije, a respected music critic, former broadcaster and former manager of Fela, occupies a unique place in Nigeria’s cultural history.
Here are photos from the event:

🚨 Shakira & Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai” spends a 2nd week at #1 on the YouTube Music Global Weekly Top Songs chart with a new peak of 46.5 MILLION weekly streams 🌍🏆
Bro, NOWHERE in the world Wizkid is globally popular than Burna Boy.
(You only need a real life traveling experience away from Nigeria for you to see the light).
