Now that others are speaking up, and we are all aware that this situation is about @BortStreams , it’s time for me to go more in depth about my experience with him.
First and foremost, I would like to emphasize that my original statement
(https://t.co/zNthb9TNFj) would’ve been made regardless of Bort’s current relationship status. That post was NOT made out of feeling “butthurt” that I didn’t end up with him. I created that post because I discovered there were other women in Bort's community who were also being used by him. (See @ibekitty ‘s post at https://t.co/b7CBl9561M as an example of an incredibly similar situation to mine).
I am ready to divulge further details about my situation with Bort, minus any information involving other women to protect them and their identities.
My volatile connection with him spans over months and months in 2024, when we began a casual and undefined arrangement. This time period includes during DreamHack in April, when (as we now know because other people have spoken up) multiple women became victims of Bort’s predatory behaviour. I would first like to mention that - during this time - Bort and I had an agreement that we would not interact romantically with anyone else in the Twitch ANZ community. This agreement was made as there was a lot of jealous, protective, and even aggressive behaviour on HIS behalf when I was even just friendly to other male Twitch streamers. Bort often accused me of sleeping with any male streamer I interacted with. I will elaborate on the other possessive behaviours that Bort exhibited later on in this post, but for now I just want to speak on the weekend of DreamHack.
Not only did I witness Bort flirting and inappropriately pursuing various women on the karaoke night of DreamHack, all while still claiming that he “only wanted me”, but he also attempted to pressure me into inviting him back to my AirBNB for the night. I have evidence of spammed text messages begging me to sleep with him, as well as many drunken missed calls that I will not be sharing.
It’s already so disgusting that BortStreams was harassing women all night at the DreamHack event. Now, there’s an added layer to how disturbing this is, based upon the fact that Bort said he would not romantically pursue other creators in the Twitch ANZ community whilst we saw each other casually. Not only did he fail to keep his word to someone he claimed to care deeply about, but he also assaulted multiple people in the process.
In regards to his aforementioned jealous & possessive behaviour, I’d like to share an experience I had with him on a night out back in May. This is just one of many instances that is incredibly revealing of how volatile Bort is as an individual.
I was out with a few mutual friends and BortStreams at a club in the city, and I had a confrontation with him that left me feeling threatened and intimidated.
Bort was dancing and flirting with other women in our friendship circle (all of whom were his fans from Twitch), all whilst ignoring me. This was typical of his usual “I have to ignore you because nobody can know what we’re doing” attitude. I was very desensitized to this type of behaviour from him, because at this stage he had wholly convinced me that I needed to be kept as his secret side piece for the sake of his reputation.
While he was preoccupied by flirting with his viewers, I was approached multiple times by different men trying to chat with me. I was conscious that Bort was around, and out of respect for him and awareness of his jealous tendencies, I declined any advances made towards me at this club. However, despite my efforts, this did not save me from being verbally berated by him later in the evening.
In the middle of this club, surrounded by crowds of people, BortStreams proceeded to scream in my face, tearing into me for supposedly seducing other men. I’m not sure if he was trying to publicly humiliate me by doing this infront of all our friends, but that was certainly the result as I was left sobbing in absolute shame and mortification.
Bort was incredibly intimidating during this confrontation. He invaded my personal space by getting up right in my face, yelling so viciously that spit was flying onto me. He stood over me threateningly, and as a short 5’1 woman I was truthfully really fearful about him hurting me. I pushed him away again and again, telling him that he was scaring me. He did not listen, and continued to invade my space and stand over me intimidatingly. The security guards came over multiple times during this argument to see if I was okay, as they could see him physically overpowering me and shouting at me. I wish I had been honest and said something to them, rather than trying to protect him. Because that is the truth, as a highly empathetic person under his manipulation, I wanted to protect him.
TW for the language I’m about to bring up here… Various disgusting words were used against me during that encounter. He told me that I acted like a “whore”, and that I was a “slut” who enjoyed men giving me attention. It was heartbreaking to hear these words casually thrown at me, especially from someone who I cared really deeply about.
He also claimed that the reason he was dancing and flirting intensely with others that night - all while completely ignoring my existence - was because he was extremely jealous of the male attention I received both online and at different events. Keep in mind, this is a grown man in his 30’s saying this.
This was NOT the first time I experienced BortStreams being verbally and physically intimidating towards me in a fit of jealousy. I tried to brush it under the carpet with the excuse that he was drunk, as he claimed he didn’t remember what he had done the next day. I constantly invalidated my own experiences, and even convinced myself that it was my fault that he was so aggressive and nasty with me. This type of behavior had become the norm with him.
It was only when I found out about @ReallyRhi_TTV ‘s experience with him at DreamHack that the rose-tinted glasses came off. Rhi and I became close in the aftermath, and she is now a beautiful friend to me who I absolutely adore. When I discovered what had happened to her, I was absolutely fuming with rage.
I could try and justify his mistreatment towards me, but when other women were brought into the mix there was no way I could continue to ignore his behaviour. I finally recognised BortStreams for the predatory and manipulative individual that he is, and decided that I would sever all ties from him.
With any other individual, I would’ve confronted them directly about their behaviour and bluntly cut all communication with them. However, I felt as if I couldn’t take this approach with Bort after seeing how aggressive and intimidating he could be if I riled him up. I was, truthfully, really afraid that he would verbally attack me, gaslight me, and manipulate me into forgiving him (as he had in the past). Therefore I decided that my approach would be to slowly phase out of his social circles without raising alarm and potential conflict.
The original idea was: I would attend one last event with him - his Housewarming Party on the 2nd of August - to quietly say goodbye to mutuals. I would then decline all future IRL invitations and disappear from his Twitch chat. My close friends supported me in this approach, and agreed that - based upon his aggressive history - that it was best to try and fly under the radar. I would like to mention that @ReallyRhi_TTV was in support of this approach as well, as I explicitly looked for her approval in my approach to this.
That night did not go as planned, and shit hit the fan.
Firstly, Bort pulled me aside at one stage because he wanted to see how much I knew about him sexually assaulting @ReallyRhi_TTV . When he discovered that I knew about the situation, his response and justification for his actions made it SO evidently clear that he didn’t care about the victims. Instead, he cared about his image and reputation being tarnished.
He expressed to me that he was upset because various Twitch ANZ creators (who had either witnessed or heard about his behavior at DreamHack) had either ghosted him or declined the invitation to his house party. He cared more about the social consequences of his behavior, rather than the emotional consequences for people like Rhi.
He also made the incredibly BOLD statement that the reason why he was coming on so strongly to multiple women at DreamHack was because he was extremely jealous of the male attention that I was getting. He claimed he “needed female validation” to feel better. I was absolutely mindblown by this attempt to pin sexual assault on his possessiveness and jealousy over me.
He claimed this was all alcohol-driven, and that he would never have behaved that way if he wasn’t so intoxicated that night. After reading various tweets about other womens’ experiences with him, I don’t believe this claim whatsoever.
Our conversation was cut short when his IRL livestream got a Golden Kappa Hype Train, and he simply HAD to end a very serious and important conversation to go ask his stream for more subs and bits. Bort truly showed where his priorities were in that moment.
A lot of other very loaded conversations - which I will not divulge out of respect for those involved - occurred that evening. In summary, I found out there were multiple other women (all loyal viewers of his Twitch streams) who Bort was seeing at the same time as me. He used the same tactic with them that he used on me, charming these women in private and forcing them to keep their encounters a secret for the sake of his Twitch career.
At some point in the evening I couldn’t stand staying quiet any longer, and I revealed to Bort that I intended to phase out of his social circle because I could not condone the way that he treated myself and other women.
He completely lost it at that moment. Never before have I been so strongly emotionally manipulated in my entire life as I was then.
Bort broke down into what I can only call ‘crocodile tears’, and proceeded to guilt trip me for my decision.
His statements included:
“How could you do this to me?”
“You know what happened with Rhi was an accident”
“After everything we’ve been through, how could you abandon me?”
“I’ve told you all about my trauma, and you’re still doing this to me.”
“You know I have abandonment issues, so why would you leave me like this?”
I felt horrible. One thing that Bort is VERY good at is emotional manipulation, so in that moment I was truly convinced I was in the wrong.
I was able to remove myself from the conversation when somebody came to get Bort, and I excused myself to a private room to calm down. I called my friends and immediately broke down in tears as I explained what had just occurred with Bort. We realised then and there that I needed to leave the party immediately before things could escalate any further. The plan was that I would leave quietly without Bort seeing, so I wouldn’t have to face any further confrontation.
Unfortunately, again, this didn’t go as planned. Bort noticed me leaving the party, and I was forced to speak to him again. I told him I needed to leave, and he proceeded to have another melt down. He SLAMMED the door shut of the room we were in before he continued his string of manipulative statements to try and get me to stay.
Anxiety filled me when he slammed the door, and the aggressive action triggered memories of the aforementioned night out. I immediately “noped” out of the situation, moved past him to exit the room, and ran outside to my Uber.
There is so much more that I could share about my experience with him, but I feel like these few incidents I’ve described (in combination with tweets made by others) are enough of an indication to the type of individual that @BortStreams is.
I want to reiterate, this is NOT about me feeling butthurt about his current relationship status. If this was me having a rant about another woman being “chosen” over me, I would’ve exposed his name from the get-go. Additionally, I have no reason to envy a relationship that involves a man that verbally attacked, shamed, intimidated, and manipulated me on multiple occasions.
Again, these posts regarding Bort are about me exposing an incredibly unstable person who should not be in any position of influence. BortStreams is evidently a troubled individual, and I truly hope that he decides to step away from social media. His reliance on sexual validation is incredibly harmful, to both himself and those who are on the receiving end of his attention.
I’m extremely disappointed by the half-hearted damage control tweet he uploaded earlier today. I never received an apology. Rather, in our final conversation, he gaslit me, gave numerous excuses for his behaviour, and blamed everyone but himself. I attempted to open his eyes to the harm he has caused myself and others, but my feedback was not considered.
Bort, many people have been hurt by your selfish actions. If you haven’t already, read the comments and quote tweets under @ReallyRhi_TTV ‘s post, and see how much harm you have caused the Twitch ANZ community. This cannot go on.
To everyone who has spoken out against Bort, I am so incredibly proud of you. Thank you for being so brave. I see you, and I believe you.💜
@budewyttv @BortStreams God this is so disgusting, I’m so fucking sorry that this happened to you and all the other women he has manipulated and abused. I feel so ashamed that I associated myself with him for so long. To call it “jealousy” that you would make the post is just pure delusion on his part.
As Bort's mod and close friend for several years, I don't want to take space from victims but have been asked about where I stand so here it is. I am now grieving a friendship because there is no way I can claim to stand for victims and women except when my friend is involved. 1/
This is not a post I take any joy in making, and I wouldn’t be making it if I felt like I had any other choice.
For those of you who don’t know, I took an unplanned break from regular content creation due to my mental health absolutely tanking, largely due to the effect that an incident with @BortStreams had on me. It took me months to actually talk to anyone about what happened, and it’s taken me even longer to feel confident enough to post this. So, in light of recent conversations, I really want to talk about this encounter, and how it has affected my mental health and the way I interact with others at events.
A few months ago, I went to the Fortress karaoke event after DreamHack and at this event had a run-in with Bort that very quickly went from bad to worse. A little while into the event, when I was heading to the bathroom, he physically stopped me by grabbing my arm as I walked past, talking about how much he wanted to kiss me. I told him that I wasn’t interested and, thinking that was the end of it, walked away. Not long after this, I saw him attempting the same behaviour with other women at the event. Later he came back to me, and persisted with trying to get me to kiss him which escalated to asking me to take him home with me. I continued to say no to this. He carried on asking and pushing for me to kiss him or sleep with him to the point of begging, and I continued saying “no”, reiterating it over and over. Let me make it very clear: I did not consent to any of Bort’s behaviour. There was no indication verbally or physically from me that I consented to anything occurring, and his intoxication is neither justification nor excuse to ignore my "no".
Instead of accepting the fact that I’d said “no” and very clearly didn’t want anything to do with him, Bort sat down, pulled me over to him, and groped my ass, persisting further with attempting to go home with me. I really wish that I could say that I reacted at this point. Instead, I froze because I didn’t know what to do or how to react. All I could think to do was leave immediately and get myself out of the situation. He continued asking to go home with me, and wouldn’t leave me alone until I’d physically left the venue.
It took me a long time to even talk to my closest friends about this and let them know what happened. The subject only came up at first because I was feeling extremely anxious about going to an event and possibly having a run-in with Bort alone. It took me much longer to give them any details. I had done a great job of convincing myself for weeks that it wasn’t a big deal, no one would believe me if I did speak up, and that it was even my own fault I had been groped. This is obviously not the case - it is a big deal, and the discussions I’ve had behind closed doors have really empowered me to speak up about this. Despite the immense support I’ve received from friends, it’s been incredibly difficult to come to terms with my experience. This, horribly, has resurfaced memories of similar experiences, especially relating to times I have not been believed.
This has affected the way I’ve interacted with online communities as a whole. I’m more reserved now than I ever have been in the past. I’ve become severely anxious at events, to the point where I have come close to cancelling well in advance as a direct result of this incident. My friends who I attend events with shouldn’t have to be concerned about how I’m going to cope with him showing up. They shouldn’t have to be worried about the possibility of me sitting in a bathroom having a panic attack over the thought of running into him.
As I said, I take no joy in making this post, but it’s been weighing on my mind enough that I feel it’s time to speak out about it. I don’t care if he was too drunk to remember any of what he did. I don’t care for whatever excuse he has to justify sexually assaulting me. I care about the fact that if I don’t say something, this could lead to someone else becoming a victim too. I care about the harm that this experience has done to me, and I care about the potential harm it could do to others. I’m sick of being silent, and I’m sick of being too anxious to speak up.
Nobody should have to hide as a victim of this kind of behaviour. No one should have to go through this and be afraid to speak out. Right now, for me, silence is not an option. I’m hoping that by sharing my own experience with Bort it may help people to feel less alone.
I hope that this can give others the courage to share their own stories. Be strong, look after yourselves and each other, and thank you for giving me your time while I share my experience.
Finally posted a new clip on YouTube!
