Mayor Brandon Johnson on the Soldier Field game day traffic: "Let me tell you how bad it is — Bears vs. Packers, I'm at the game, we're losing. I decide to leave to beat the traffic. Before I get out of the footprint, the Bears had come back to win."
Something we don't talk enough about is how good Ben Johnson and Dan Roushar were last season in the run game and the opportunities it created.
Yes, this play doesn't result in a massive gain but the #Bears are running counter here, pulling Joe Thuney and Colston Loveland wrapping.
Jonah Jackson and Darnell Wright execute the combo block perfectly, leading to a nice hole being created that Colston Loveland needs to full. Had Jackson released just a second earlier and worked up to the linebacker, Loveland would've been 1-on-1 against Xavier McKinney, leading to a big play as D'Andre Swift would've been in space.
It's opportunities like these that really engineered a massive turnaround for the offense last season and we should see much of the same going into 2026.

This offseason, #Bears QB coach JT Barrett referenced that there were instances where QB Caleb Williams tried to do a little bit too much on offense instead of just taking what the defense would give him.
This play in the Week 16 matchup against the #Packers serves as an excellent example of what Barrett was saying.
The offense is driving, and the #Bears start out in a 2x2 formation with Olamide Zaccheaus motioning in to run a crossing route.
DJ Moore and Jahdae Walker, condensed at the top of the screen, run a double corner to clear out the boundary side, opening up an easy completion for Williams to hit Zaccheaus underneath.
Meanwhile, Colston Loveland runs a dig route to clear out the safeties while Kyle Monangai runs an out route to get the LB out of Zaccheaus' path.
Williams is already looking in the right direction, but if he comes back to the crosser, it's an easy completion that is schemed up for him, allowing the offense to create a big play with minimal effort.
The #Bears are expecting big things from QB Caleb Williams in 2026 and quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett knows what the former No. 1 overall can accomplish this offseason to take another step forward.

CHICAGO BEARS STADIUM UPDATE THREAD:
The Illinois legislature adjourned the spring session without resolving the Chicago Bears stadium issue.
Late Sunday, a last-minute proposal (which is very similar to the legislation proposed and passed in Indiana) passed the Illinois Senate but did not make it through the House as the General Assembly wrapped up its work before 5 a.m. CT.
That legislation proposed would allow municipalities( Arlington Heights, Chicago, etc.) to create their own sports stadium authority. The Bears would still fund the construction of the stadium, but it would be publicly owned. The legislation was an attempt to keep the Bears in IL because it would solve their biggest hurdle: finding property tax certainty.
Because the PILOT legislation died over the weekend, lawmakers tried to pass something that would keep the Bears from having to pay property taxes.
So now the Bears say they have a decision to make. Here is a statement from the team: "We will finalize our evaluation of both Arlington Heights and Hammond, and remain on the late spring/early summer timeline that we have previously communicated. We will provide an update when we have a decision to share."
Statement from the Bears: "We will finalize our evaluation of both Arlington Heights and Hammond, and remain on the late spring/early summer timeline that we have previously communicated. We will provide an update when we have a decision to share."
Sen. Cunningham lays it out: "So I think what we've done here with this bill today is establish a framework that would enable the Bears to build a stadium in the State of Illinois... this gives them property tax certainty... this is the exact same mechanic set up in NW Indiana."
Sunday session. Will the Bears score a touchdown in Springfield today? It’s still possible, but time is running short. Should be an interesting day under the dome.
